yesterday @sustainrelease mentioned césaria évora's 'club sodade' album. i hadn't listened in a while so i gave it a spin, and immediately remembered i'd seen her live soon after sodade came out. it's a long time ago and i don't remember details, but the image of a barefoot singer spinning around on a carpet, lit cigarette in hand, is one that stays with you

i have been reworking some security bits and a friend got swept up in my sand traps. he's on iOS, isn't a techie, doesn't think he's using a VPN or using special security/privacy settings — but his traffic is coming from CDN addresses (akamai, cloudflare). something's going on that i didn't know about. can anyone point me to learning links?

#strawberry music player has the best support for musicbrainz and listenbrainz that i've found. some stuff still wouldn't read… it turns out they were ALAC files that are only somewhat compatible with ID3v2.4. songs with multiple artists would vanish. transcoded to flac, sorted.

freecycle has been hit and miss, as is to be expected for the concept, but this weekend i found new homes for 150 mini holiday lights and a vacuum cleaner. i think @bluestocking told me about this, thank you!
