Last may @X31Andy came over to visit. Being a renewable energy geek, when I asked what he wanted to do for the day, he asked to go see some wind Turbines. By pure chance it was national wind mill open day, which gave us a crash course in 400 years of wind energy. Starting with a post mill, then a smock mill, before entering Flevopolder and visiting 3 generations of wind Turbine.

What amazed me most of tho was that the quietest of the turbines were the newest. 1/n

Did you verify the binaries and the code the bash script ran/installed? How did you confirm trust on those binaries?

Xz is the oss supply chain attack we know about. You can guarantee there are many many more. How we manage installation, and dependency's should perhaps have a little more thought...

Laying in bed listening to the rain. The wind is giving it that extra oomph as it hits against the windows.

Can't get out of my brain the thought that warm air holds more moisture unseasonably warm weather like we've been having, is gonna become more common, and with it, more rain, and heavier rain.

I wonder if anyone is doing anything to improve our infrastructure to cope with this new normal.

The controller I'm using for the heat treat oven has a webserver built in so I can monitor progress from a comfy seat next door.

Considering I'm using an oven designed to cook food, and a controller designed to reflow PCBs. I'm very much in the miss using tools realm here.

Saw an advert for this today at the train station.

While I appreciate that the intent is probably well meaning and all. But it feels a bit like a disability dongle. Especially when you consider the number 1 cause of homelessness is a lack of a home. And the number 1 way to treat homelessness, is to give homeless people homes. It's that simple. Finland proved this.

It's an incredibly simple solution. But those in charge hate the idea.
