"Regulation stops innovation! Companies need to be free to do whatever the fuck they want to create innovation!"
My brother in Christ, if anything stops innovation, it's patents and copyright.
You're less likely to die in a car crash only because Volvo engineers gracefully decided to do humanity a favor and not patent the 3-point seatbelt technology.
But for example, a technology of safely stopping table saws is patented and only one company can create them, suing similar projects from other companies out of existence 🤡
@rail From my point of view, which could be considered biased because my day job is directly related to regulatory compliance, it isn’t regulation, it isn’t ip, it is management’s fear of failure or diminishment of profits that keeps the innovators stifled.
To be honest, innovation to me means a better product, and it occurs to me that some think it means higher profits through lower quality.
@rail The correct name would be "Instances" since those ain't dedicaded servers but a mere instance used by a tennant and administrated only in very limited ways compared to a real server...
Former Polish govt, railway carriers, railroads administration: don't take photos of the stations and trains!!!! It's critical infrastructure you spy!!! (it's not, but railway enthusiasts WERE questioned by the police for it lol)
it would be nice if fedi software had a system that would let you know if your report has been handled and give admins an option to give you feedback with what action has been taken
i guess there could be situations when you want some obscurity on purpose but admins should have a way to make handling reports transparent to the reporter 🤷
