I see how itch io is so convenient to host your games, because it also makes very easy to sell (or have a tip box) and get some bucks (and free hosting), even if you make hobby games; but I kind of miss people having a website independently of that.
Like, who's this person? Do they have a blog? Do they use social media? Do they have a blog? 🤔
Meanwhile, I got sidetracked again because this cute thing just arrived. The smaller version of the legendary Big Muff guitar effect pedal. It sounds just like its bigger sibling, noisy and sweet. It was a grunge era favorite and Hendrix allegedly used one as well. Love it. Found it for cheap and the plan is to make some modifications for more versatility (maybe there’s even going to be a video about that in the future). #Guitar#GuitarEffects#Pedalboard#BigMuff
Last night I tried to improve the way levers work on tHoS, and I think I need to rework that part of the engine. Also, showing the walls move on a different screen when you use the lever is going to cost 256 extra bytes unless I change a few things (that I don't want to change, tbh).
Meanwhile I "accidentally" rewrote some bits and save a few bytes. So it may be OK at the end 🤫
The default move and the crate move we recorded them with the webcam. Me tapping on the desk and Vic scratching my mouse pad with a piece of cardboard.
The other sounds were computer generated. The win is CC0 from open game art.
One thing I have just noticed recently (I may be slow 😅) is that when you check the following list on some Masto user, you get the full list when that user is in the same server as your account; otherwise you get the users your instance knows about (that often times is just me when checking someone I follow).
And that's a total game changer when discovering people to follow. Which may be a good reason to have account on an instance focused on a common interest, as it may help you find people.
So "some thoughts about this soon to come 2024" .. I really DO NOT know what to think about .. I mean while personally I can say "I can try to do better or such" .. "globally" I can't see "anything that much better to hope for" politically "all the world is a mess" and I can't see "anything better than before that can come out", the question is more like "what else ( worse ) is going to come" ? .. I don't know .. is there "a better future" in 2024 ? For real ? Mah </pessimism>
@vga256 it is a convenient wrapper around SDL, would you say? PyGame always felt like doing too little (needs you to write the game loop) and too much at the same time with classes for sprites, animation and such.
Vic wants to learn Python, which is fine, but he also wants to make a game that is a bit unrealistic considering his only experience y copying Scratch examples.
I think it may be better to do some Lua with Love 2D because it will give more results, faster.
The other option I guess is Godot, but he wants to write code, and I don't know Godot anyway.
@craiggrannell that's the whole point of polarising in politics, isn't it? People are supposed to vote "theirs" and never "the others"; is like being a supporter of a football team.
