@revivalrecords@mastodon.social

Revival Records was set up in 1998 to digitise and restore old vinyl to digital music.
Nowadays we blog about music, review vinyl and other physical media, and sometimes buy and sell records/tapes/CDs and T-Shirts via our shop (which is very much a work in progress). #vinyl #tapes #CDs #cassettes #music #physicalmedia #revivalrecords #fedi22 #TeeShirts

    @scrummy @vinylrecords Guilty pleasure maybe, but I love this album. Love On The Rocks is my go to karaoke track.

    @Whiskeyomega What had you been trying, cork? I just recently went down the cork route and I quite like it I have to say.

    A clean record is a happy record. 🤓

    What’s your method? Mine is distilled water, vacuum, then cleaner, vacuum, then distilled water with a different brush, vacuum.

    @andrew @vinylrecords
    I use this, but with homemade cleaning fluid. I have had some very impressive results. I did try a vacuum cleaner once and have been tempted with one of those Project machines, but the bath method works well for me.

    @revivalrecords@mastodon.social avatar

    @andrew @vinylrecords Ah I filter my used fluid through a micro filter and put it back into an air tight container. It is a faff though for just one record, but a nice faff. I also tend to save up a few to do at a time though.

    Public Enemy, It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back.

    One of 2 Public Enemy LPs I got from my kids (I did kind of give them a massive hint) and never owned these on vinyl before. The other being Apocalypse 91.

    Next up, and another Christmas present, is this bad boy. 6 LPs, 75 tracks, half speed mastered 180g vinyl.

    Ok. I’m going in.

    Starting with the graphic novel - wasn’t expecting it to be so big! It’s a monster of a book.

    revivalrecords,
    @revivalrecords@mastodon.social avatar

    It will take a while to read through this and give any kind of review, but for now here’s a panel to give you a feel of the quality.

    revivalrecords,
    @revivalrecords@mastodon.social avatar

    Next up the memorabilia. All the bits and pieces come in a thick, record sleeve sized box inserted in the main box.

    revivalrecords,
    @revivalrecords@mastodon.social avatar

    I won’t be taking these out or putting the posters up, preferring to keep them all safe and sound within the box set. But they are amazing quality.

    revivalrecords,
    @revivalrecords@mastodon.social avatar

    The posters are so good though! All A2 and would look fantastic framed. Tempted.

    revivalrecords,
    @revivalrecords@mastodon.social avatar

    I think possibly the best set of memorabilia I’ve seen in a box set. There are tour programs, posters, photos, badges. Great stuff. Even the back cover of the inner box is interesting.

    Possibly my favourite (music aside, of course) is the Who’s Next | Lifehouse book. It’s very detailed with some terrific photography and I know it will provide hours of entertainment.

    revivalrecords,
    @revivalrecords@mastodon.social avatar

    Then there is the small matter of 11 CDs worth of music to listen to. I know a lot of it, as I have Pete’s Lifehouse Box set and the release of this new master, but hey, can you have too much Who?

    Back from our Christmas break and I have a lot of to enjoy over the coming weeks/months! Some new, some old, and some very indulgent!

    Grabbed this today in Oxfam. Not one I’d come across before - thought it worth a gamble for £2. Described as Pub Punk or Pub Rock and has some interesting song titles.

    This was mine...
    (I actually recorded a silly but competent 8-track techno album using just this).

    My wife has started hosting a Sunday Jazz Club. I say hosting, it’s just me and her. from her ever growing collection, and invented cocktails based on Jazz musicians! End of the month we’ll be listening to this new addition and drinking a ‘Dolphy’ 🍸 *
