I'm trying to test thermal shutdown on an IC: if it gets hot enough, does its thermal regulation work? It has: an ADC measuring die temp via bandgap, a hardware bandgap that cuts function at a specific temperature, and a write register that you can set a value into so when it exceeds that value it shuts down. The important one, the hardware that should cut the power section, is way off. It hasn't tripped at 200C.
So today I talked to a running chip through liquid solder. That's a first.

A dubious idea I have about cutting curved dovetails so a box would look like an impossible dovetail box, but would in fact have the top open on an arc rather than a diagonal slide like most impossible dovetails.

A good friend just found out that genetic material she stored 5 years ago before starting to transition was destroyed 4 years ago by the company, Legacy, and they kept charging her for storage until they notified her last week about what they'd done, and in the meantime told her that everything was fine and being handled correctly. Just in case any y'all were thinking about this.

Engraving kanji in some junk wood and with a v tip cutter. This setup, using z axis depth to produce a varying cut width, makes representing the varying brush stroke width really easy. (It can even make square corners at the intersection plane.)

I dreamed last night that someone asked me for my email address, and I took a business card and wrote it on the back, and was reeeaaaallly struggling to get the letters legible, and told the person well you see I'm asleep and dreaming and we struggle with text in dreams because that part of our brains isn't very active, and the person nodded and said I've noticed the same thing, and never dream about writing. I said yeah, I'm such a text based person I dream about it anyway but poorly.

Any thoughts on a good material to serve as a flexible gasket about 4mm thick, between an automotive radiator and a fan shroud? The main point being, it needs to stand up to direct contact with 95 degrees C aluminum indefinitely.

It's extremely windy outside, and they're forecasting up to 100mph gusts across the whole metro area. After the Marshall Fire in 2021, where several fires, one possibly from a downed powerline, swept through the western suburbs of Denver, driven by 70mph winds, it appears that the power company may be cutting power to some of the area, including where I live. This'll be interesting. Right now it sounds like a jet aircraft is running at idle just over the hill.

For the record, taking a road race bike with 22mm slicks on a half pipe in the skate park is a terrible idea.
Minor plus: if you air out with good form, when the tires slide like they're on ice you land tangent to the surface and slide down, which really does reduce the impact load.
