An exceptionally small bowl of 滷味, a Taiwanese night market food where you go grab a bunch of diff noodles or rice and sides and they pour a delicious braise over it

Braised anything is one of my comfort foods. It goes especially well with taro rice and braised goose or duck, which is a Teochew combination that I’d get at any food market in Singapore or Bangkok.

running older versions of windows and stuff is way more fun to fuck around with on an old computer than just installing linux.

I could be running linux on this thing but then it would just do everything my normal laptop can do while taking 8 times as long

Things I have actually been proud of while reading Mandarin: when I am able to read every single menu item in Taipei noodle shops, and when I can read artisanal tea labels

I had difficulties at physio appointment yesterday because I was low energy before going & developed a migraine headache shortly after I got home. I have all of tomorrow off 👍

I am smoking a joint, going for nature walk by nearby river & then watching a movie with Mom before crashing in bed. I have haunting memories to deal with.
I hate how trauma experiences linger far after their initial shocks. I hate how it seems some of us, who feel very deeply, spend so many years trying to recover from multiple traumas, while it seems people we once thought we'd spend rest of our lives with - seem to live without much trauma impacts.
I do not know how to love in halves.

Running into my pharmacist cousin yesterday set off a whole bunch of old extended family triggers. His Dad was so abusive towards me & my family for past 35 yrs. I haven't seen his parents for years, until they came to meet my baby nephew in May. My family has been estranged from my Uncle Kieng's family since 2006. That's when he chose to be cruel to my family & I cut him off from abusing us more.
Him & his wife were ashamed, as they should be, for never apologizing & I told them that.
