Is a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ enough and even worth it to host my Home Assistant on? I could get a used laptop for a fraction of the price of the Raspberry, but to my understanding that would increase eletricity usage. Is that true?

@lirinton imo go and get that laptop for your sanity if it is not some ancient tech sucking 70W from the wall. RPi4 can sometimes not be enough, so RPi3B+ would be a stretch from the get-go, with very little space to grow, if any.

I had problems with HA on RPi4 and am now moving to OptiPlex 5060 Micro. Literally day and night.

@hungry_joe while "ambulans" is the correct name for an ambulance in Polish, it is rarely used. "Karetka" is what you can expect to hear. 🙂 Though as someone already said for their country in the comments earlier, ambulances in Poland have "SNALUBMA" on the front. 😂

Is it time to take a break from local pogo community ? Might be. I'll loose some info about IRL events but also I'll stop reading the same arguments all the time.

And I can always get info from social media about planned events.

Not enough time for everything is one thing and being tired by people is another (intravert) thing.

@afterdesign I totally get you, you're not the only one feeling that way.

What I can suggest to you is something I'm using extensively on Discord lately - "Browse Channels" function. Using that I turn off all talk channels, leaving only things like news, announcements, faq, rules, and others like that. An example of this I attached to this message.

Then whenever I feel like socializing going back to it is way easier than leaving. Especially if you have a value in the contents of the server.

This can also double as a good test. If the community doesn't change after some time, it's a clear sign that you are only wasting your time there.

@afterdesign I don't really get what you mean now. Wanting to discuss different things in a different manner would mean change within the community, while you state it doesn't have to change. I believe this makes sense, but I can't get my head around it. Not enough brains. 😂

And as I said. I get you, and I feel the same. I don't want and won't advocate for what is going on there or myself and my actions. This community became quite toxic a long time ago, and there is a struggle to bring it to enjoyability (not that much was done for this). So yeah...

@afterdesign It's more than one person who creates this atmosphere. Indeed, this one is very audible but is not the only one.

The toxic situation is something we're trying to address, so there are at least 2 people who think the same as you right now, with many who said that in the past. So it's not a "you" problem, trust me.🙂

Let me repeat something: I fully agree with you and feel the same. What I was doing was trying to give you an alternative solution to resolve the issue you're facing. But at the end of the day, it's your decision what you will do, and I have no right to argue with that - and I won't, because, once again, I totally understand you and would do (or at least think) the same.

Oh of course having a diverse community has some risks. But nothing but themselves stop staff from growing some cohones to improve the situation. 😜

Here's today's .
"I am a student". A normal English phrase, right? However it might sount strange or redundant in other languages. I have already told you that many languages lack articles, but many languages also lack copula verbs, i.e., the verb "to be" in such phrases. So in Polish, for example, you say nearly the same ("I am student", since no articles exist), but in Russian you'd say "I student", that's it.
Other languages (called pro-drop languages) have the verb "to be" in this place, but they tend to omit the pronoun. So, in Spanish you would usually say "Am a student". And the daily question "How are you?" becomes quite bizarre from an English perspective: "How are?".

I need an in this case. For the context - I'm Polish.

For the example you provided, we'd say "jestem studentem", which I thought would be closer to "am student". This is because "I am student" I would translate as "ja jestem studentem", which is technically correct but sounds horribly unnatural.

So I'm lost here - not the first time while trying to understand linguistics. Can you explain that to me? TIA!

What I can tell you out of my head is that this is indeed coarsening of the word "owl", although it seems like it's archaic.

I'm gonna admit, I never looked at it this way, just adopted it spontaneously a decade ago without giving it much thought. 😅

I've played the for well over 10 hours now, probably more like 15. So I wanted to share my thoughts on it. Without spoilers.

I see as a perfect example on how to make a game's sequel. Everything that worked well in was preserved or there's more of it, all things needing a change got it, which hasn't worked was substituted or removed. Also a lot of improvements and more of the awesome.

The scale of the world is breathtaking. I love how new elements and introduced cultures are fitting into the world.

Of course this installation isn't perfect. Things like using fused arrows are a pain. There are moments where animation isn't smooth. But given how packed this game is, those problems look minor at best.

I'm enjoying every bit of this game, and I can stand behind Metacritic's score of 96. Totally a must play.

Do you think a B 4GB is powerful enough to run Home Assistant, a server and have space for other (lightweight) things?

I think you should be fine. Just use a reasonable SSD instead of an SD card.

I run my HA with a few add-ons on the 2GB version of Pi, and it gets the job done. It's far from being lightning fast, but is enough for my needs.
