Following on a discussion here a few days ago, my thoughts on using ChatGPT as a "writing coach" and why that strikes me as a terrible idea:

How about, instead of funneling more money toward a company (Amazon. I mean Amazon.) that abuses its workers and is killing bookstores, we celebrate with free shipping from https://bookshop.org/ instead?

@wombat37 @sundaypix Took me a while to find a doorway and not just a closed door! I was pondering whether an arch would qualify when I arrived at this one.

wombat37,

@swan_tower @sundaypix I like that you appreciated the difference. A lot haven't - thank you.

How many of you don't like prologues in novels, and why don't you like them? (I'm wondering if the reasoning has changed over time.)

@rainbowdash I'd say a prologue that takes that long to make sense is poorly chosen -- but "because I often see them badly done" is a perfectly valid reason!

rainbowdash,

@swan_tower Haha, that’s true, but because it seems to be the norm, I’ve always thought that prologues just never make sense for a while and that’s that.
