tacosplease,

Not enough geese were harmed in the making of this jacket

tacosplease,

COVID taught me they want to believe the lies they tell themselves. Hard to reason with that.

tacosplease,

Ah. The Mr. Burns approach to longevity. We certainly seem to be committed.

tacosplease,

You were down voted, yet here I am. A person who cares about surround sound options.

tacosplease,

Nobody is advocating for the sound to play at startup. The comment that started this conversation specifically uses the word “looking”. We’re just saying people do pay attention to what kind of surround sound something has.

tacosplease,

I was originally responding to the comment about looking for surround sound options and was not trying to defend the sounds. Obviously, the info on the box is usually the best way to tell.

But as we discuss it, some use cases for the sound come to mind.

If the media is just a file on a hard drive or if the original packaging is lost or damaged, I might appreciate having the sound to indicate what settings to use on the receiver.

And honestly beyond all that… Who cares if somebody does like having the sound play every time? We all do weird shit.

tacosplease,

Believe A is true. And believe B is true. Also believe A and B cannot both be true at the same time. That is cognitive dissonance.

In this case it is “short circuited” aka bypassed by saying something dismissive. Doing so suggests there is nothing that can be done about the circumstances behind the dissonant ideas, so it’s not worth thinking about.

tacosplease,

They don’t think it be like it is, but it do.

tacosplease,

Ok but what race is the mayor? Based on Baltimore that seems to be really important in situations like this.

Jan. 6 Situation Room Officer Reveals Trump Fans ‘Came That Close’ To Murdering VP In Stunning New Interview (www.mediaite.com)

Former White House Situation Room officer Mike Stiegler revealed that then-President Donald Trump never called down to check on then-Vice President Mike Pence as Trump fans hunted him at the Capitol, and that we were “that close” to losing the VP....

tacosplease,

slammed There. I said it.

tacosplease,

As someone else who grew up in that world, it’s because we know there is no logic or reason behind conservative politics. They deserve no grace; no benefit of the doubt.

Conservative politics is lazy and selfish. They don’t want to learn about anyone else’s experience. They don’t want to understand science. They like the hateful and “ignorant” (the leaders know better) things their politicians say, so they don’t bother to ask if the statements are true just as long as the statements are convenient.

Had I not lived it for ~20 years, I never would have realized how little justification conservatives have for their beliefs. The rest of us aren’t missing something. They really are that smug and selfish. It’s blatant, willful ignorance.

tacosplease,

Ok but now I want to know what their new words are.

tacosplease,

Super Mario 64K gonna be lit

tacosplease,

Not trying to simp for TEAMS, but what issues are people having? Every now and then I have to go in and change mic and speakers back to laptop, presumably from some update our IT deployed.

Other than that and wanting it to show on MY screen when I’m transmitting sound, I can’t think of any improvements. Works better than the conference calls we used to have.

tacosplease,

We did Zombie by the Cranberries. Would usually get through the first 4 or 5 plays before an employee would come and unplug the jukebox.

tacosplease,

That’s logical. Nintendo’s lawyers don’t follow logic.

Study reveals "widespread, bipartisan aversion" to neighbors owning AR-15 rifles (www.psypost.org)

A recent study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences reveals that across all political and social groups in the United States, there is a strong preference against living near AR-15 rifle owners and neighbors who store guns outside of locked safes. This surprising consensus suggests that when it comes...

tacosplease,

In the comparison above, the rifles would be the rats… not you.

I haven’t seen a single rifle say it was offended by that statement.
