You've gotta be very careful in thinking that everybody else's life is perfect as they portray it in social media at a safe distance - including with fluffy posts on Mastodon. You don't know what's happening behind the scenes because they're not going to tell you (they can't and/or they shouldn't). Just be honest with yourself, because it's likely that the people you scroll past are dealing with levels of dishonesty you can't even begin to imagine.

I just remembered the lecture I saw a decade or so ago at the McMinnville UFO festival from "the world's foremost expert on the link between UFOs and Sasquatch."

It was a surreal experience seeing so many people who earnestly believe that aliens are visiting Earth snickering about the possibility of a totally normal earthbound mammal that just happens to live a very secluded lifestyle.

    First Day Impressions with my Google Pixel 8 Pro Purchase:

    • Feels like the Pixel 7 Pro (close enough) in-hand
    • Still experiences major lag within various apps (hate it)
    • Generally snappy getting in / out / around the OS
    • Most photos look great, but HDR seems haphazard
    • Many S23U photos look like garbage by comparison
    • Damn incongruous gesture hint between apps (hate it)
    • Screen whites are 'too white' everywhere (hate it)
    • Photo motion blur from hand shake, too frequently

    @ChrisPirillo Oof. I hear from Android photographers that supposedly the Pixels are great, but that's not great if you're describing things as "haphazard" and having hand blur issues. Bummer. Seems like in 2023 thatโ€™s... not cool.

    Iโ€™m really enjoying OmniFocus but I think the iPad app is killing me.

    Feels like I canโ€™t properly use it without eventually needing to switch to the Mac โ€“ and the iPad is such a killer planning tool that it might be a dealbreaker.

    @matthewcassinelli I really tried hard to make OmniFocus/iPad be a powerhouse. I found that it was great for reviews, but super clunky for input/planning.

    Finally stopped fighting it and now just focus all that on the Mac where I have a variety of automations in place around it as well.

    @curtismchale @chris People just don't think about it. I worked in cybersecurity for a heavily regulated organization (PHI, CJIS, PII, etc) and folks would routinely blur the company/private lines with accounts, etc. with no regard for implications either for them or the organization.

    holy nasty artifacts, batman ~ used the 2x on both the iphone 15 pro max and samsung galaxy s23 ultra ~ the iphone mangles & muddies certain details in the same light ~ and before you scream "discrepancy," i'll follow up with a 1x crop of a different model
