The Nonjah Tunes compilations are a collection of non-standard dub across 3 volumes. The first two were done via an open call on the now defunct Digital Vomit Records forum and released via that platform. The third one was then done for DDD. All three can now be found on DDD Bandcamp for free/pay-your-own-will-to-power.
All 3 were released on Nietzsche's birthday.

@thepoliticalcat heard that a couple of times too, people getting different results.
The way some of the questions/answers are worded there's quite a few in there where people aren't certain which one to pick and then end up picking differently dependent on mood of the day or random thoughts or something.

Idea for a concept release:

Press a /acetate disc with "empty" grooves, i.e. no waveform, just a guide for a stylus and sell it with a bag of dust & hairs.
The listener can then create their individual vinyl - crackle silence experience

@emsquared yeah, it's funny how blurry the lines between art and con-man games frequently are.
Iirc the sandpaper sleeve was The Return of Durutti Column.

Many years ago I did some playing around with using sellotape & gluing objects onto cheap fleamarket vinyl discs and use a half broken record player to create sounds/needl-jump loops. Recorded to 4 track.
Seem to have lost the tapes tho before being able to digitize them.

@mxtthxw I've used loops from sample packs, generally free ones. Especially when I started out. Or sometimes as the basis to mange them up in a granular sampler or other.
I don't feel it's inherently wrong - Just too time consuming to browse through packs.
More likely to create my own these days and nothing wrong with using fx to make them less static.

I just find the marketing funny. Like, why would I use a loop - no matter where it's from - if I find it's boring?

Bore-step vs Splice-Core could well be a thing.
Of course, all those tracks will be flagged up as copyright infringement by digital distributors/streaming platforms b/c someone used them a week before you. :D

@mxtthxw yeah, heard those stories, especially about Arturia.

I've not had any issues yet, but I'm guessing it's mostly to do with certain presets that are already 2/3 or more of the composition.
Probably better to avoid "TrapSekwenz" and "EDM Breakdown 2" presets

This thing is the best music making box I've ever laid my hands on. Yes, it's limited, but it's the kind of "limited" which is expressive enough to allow you to keep making music rather than getting lost in the details. And it works off a USB power bank.

@ubik great little box. Just wish Elektron wouldn't limit it intentionally by not adding overbridge functionality.
Being able to record multitrack into the daw would make this so much better. And still not hurt their *takt sales I'd think

@ubik it wouldn't take away any of that tho. Be the dame nifty box with its strength of comparable simplicity. Just that it would allow multi track recording if you want it.
To me not having that is a definite deficit.One I think is just stupidly on Elektron's side
