Here’s my proposal for a new hashtag: #GrowerOrBlower 🔥

The challenge: Listen to a band that everybody but you seems to LOVE but you just cannot get into. Ideally do it in chronological album order to come to a final decision: Is this band a grower - did you even like it after your deep dive - or have you been right at first place and it’s just a blower? 😄

Well, I start with #anthrax. I don’t get it why they are called „One of the big 4“ - it just never clicked. So let the journey begin! 😜

1993 erschien dieses ikonische (harhar) Meisterwerk, das ich rauf und runter gehört habe. Einen zeitgemäßen, differenzierten Sound haben die neu eingespielten Songs bekommen - die Vocals kräftiger und vordergründiger, die Gitarren schön mittenbetont, Schlagzeug und Bass kräftig von unten stützend … aber was sollte auch schief gehen? Live sind Paradise Lost immer noch eine Wucht, und dieses Meisterwerk bleibt Meisterwerk. Große Liebe für eine meiner Lieblingsbands! #paradiselost #nowPlaying

Vor 14 Jahren, am 14.4.2010, starb Pete Steele mit 48 - kein Alter. 💚🖤
Auch Carnivore, die Vorgängerband von Type O Negative, waren auf ihre Weise großartig - und wer die alten Fallout-Sachen nicht kennt, Pete’s erste Band, unbedingt mal reinhören: Vieles von dem, was Type O später zu Giganten des Gothic Doom machen sollte, war auch damals schon im Sound angelegt, als Pete gerade mal um die 19 war. Rest in Peace.

Mit „All For Kings“ haben #anthrax eine extrem runde, homogene Scheibe an die Spitze ihres bisherigen Schaffens gestellt. Kein Vergleich zu den polternden, irgendwie richtungslosen ersten Scheiben. Ich mag sogar Belladonna Gesang.

Final judgement of this trip: Anthrax really are a great band! And thank you @derthomas for inspiring and accompanying me on my first #GrowerOrBlower journey 🙌🏻
