Reposting one of my favorite books just to say Rest In Peace James Moore. I only knew him from Facebook and from being a fan of his work. And I was happy when he accepted my friend request so that I could tell him so. I just found another collection of his on Amazon that I'm expecting to be delivered today. I hope and assume book sale money will go to his wife. If you haven't read his work, please do. @horror#bookstodon#gonetoosoon#jamesamoore#thisishalloween
"Thunderstruck" became part of the Scots pipe tradition because of Gordon Duncan, who died in 2005, age 41.
Two of his students, Ali Hutton (here on guitar) and Ross Ainslie are amongst those keeping Gordon's memory alive.
Martyn Bennett, who died of cancer age 33 in 30 January 2005, playing a tune composed in 1745 and given words the following year to mourn the piper's death on a battlefield.
Martyn's last album was Grit, a collage of samples from Gaelic & Scots culture woven into something both old and very new.
Scottish musicians, trad and classical, led by Greg Lawson, joined together to celebrate Martyn in live performance of a special arrangement of the album. It was filmed and shown on BBC but is impossible to find now.
The limited choices I could find are subdued, but this is the best for sound quality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI7pQsukzks

“To each and every one of you, I say goodbye, farewell, adieu”
The first person I think of is Pete Steele from Type O Negative. But also Chris Cornell from Soundgarden or Layne Staley from Alice In Chains are #GoneTooSoon
In memory of the great music, a great song presented by two great fans 🥲:
Jukebox Friday Night has the theme of Gone Too Soon, so here are some K-Pop stars who left us too soon. I saw Jonghyun already posted, so here are sadly some others we lost before we should have.
He's already been mentioned but Stevie Ray Vaughan deserves another shout out. My favourite Stevie Ray recording, and certainly a personal top pick for a single, is his version of Little Wing. Jimi would be proud.
#GoneTooSoon is the theme for #JukeboxFridayNight and there’s a very long list of artists that fall into this category- most of which have been mentioned (Amy W, George M, Prince, etc.).
Both Chris Cornell’s passing and Chester Bennington really shook me.
But the one that left me blubbering in a packed Wembley recently was Taylor Hawkins.
So 2 songs that remind me of him:

I'm going to start with a double bill this week, with two much-missed folk singers. (To note, this video was taken a few years before Louisa publicly announced that she was a trans woman. Sadly, she only had a few years of living as her true self before she died - gone too soon indeed.)
A Working Chap - Louisa Killen (Louis) and Mike Waterson.
Mícheál Ó Domhnaill, singing here in a band he formed with his sisters and a friend, was only in his 50s when he died, but was a part of many influential traditional and not so traditional Irish folk groups before his death.
