What sorts of people do you think are attracted to Mastodon? I feel like Reddit attracts chatterboxes who like to share things, and Linux attracts techy people who want to have as FOSS a workflow as possible.

Sometimes I have to remind myself here, "Heart any post you want. Nobody except the poster will know." On previous sites I've used before I've been quite wary of what I interact with, knowing that my friends will see it and might think of things.

Good morning. Why is it so quiet? I can hear the blood rushing around my ears.

EDIT: Sometimes I post things that are not about the internet, knowing that people will think they’re about the internet, and I hesitate, but then I make a wish that people will understand it’s not about the internet, and I post it, and then the first reply thinks it’s about the internet.

One thing about Mastodon that's probably good: it's rather dead sometimes. I'm used to infinite scrolling on Instagram and tons of popular posts and reels after another, but Mastodon kind of tells me, "Hey you've seen everything. Stop expecting more. Now go do something useful." And it's quite effective.

I despair that several large Twitter accounts I follow are jumping on the BlueSky bandwagon rather than embracing Mastodon. Can't fathom how like minded people come to the conclusion that that is the best Twitter replacement for them...

@pabloscloud I use ibisPaint X. It's not open source though, but it does pretty much every basic thing you'll need like Photoshop.
