Beau is Afraid was the last one I recall. I think it was mostly the latter half of the movie where I started to get a bit confused and needed the ending explained to me....
It’s such a great example of a movie that is essentially able to be taken at face value and understood, but without understanding the Arthurian legend it will feel like you’re missing something. Sure you’re not going to catch all the symbolism and such, but the story is actually pretty straightforward yet it still feels like we miss a ton lol. Like you I went and looked it up after and I was just kind of like “oh OK so I wasn’t as lost as I thought I was.” Same thing happened to me with Upstream Color. It’s hard to just shake this feeling that I missed something major.
I ordered a Raspberry Pi 5 so I have a Pi 3 that’s about to be redundant. I haven’t used Pi-Hole so I was thinking it’d be good for that but I’m curious if there’s any downsides for users. Are sites blocked if you dont whitelist them? That sort of thing....
Rep. Steve Scalise is dropping out of the speaker’s race after House Republicans failed to coalesce behind him in the aftermath of Kevin McCarthy’s historic ouster....
They voted him out knowing a republican would replace him. Gaetz and them are absurd but they are not going to literally hand the reins to the democrats. It's not happening. I would put money on it. Jeffries will not be considered by the GOP.
Youtube let the other shoe drop in their end-stage enshittification this week. Last month, they required you to turn on Youtube History to view the feed of youtube videos recommendations. That seems reasonable, so I did it. But I delete my history every 1 week instead of every 3 months. So they don’t get much from my choices....
Looking to dip my toes into Linux for the first time. I have a 2016 Intel MacBook Pro with pretty solid specs collecting dust right now that I think I’m going to use. Research so far has indicated to me that the two best options for me are likely Mint or Elementary OS. Does anyone have any insight? Also open to other OS’s. I would consider myself decently tech savvy but I am not a programmer or anything. Comfortable dipping into the terminal when the need arises and all that.
I brought that up because it means we all need a decent single player experience for when our schedules don’t lineup, which is frequently. When you’re younger this isn’t as big of a problem.
While I overall agree this seems to be the case at first glance, I do notice that august there’s a huge drop that correlates with school starting up again. Probably need to compare to previous summers.
Edit: looks like it's still pretty huge even accounting for that
I just have a hard time believing this when the_donald started on reddit. The site has been an incubator for right wing actors for years. Even the infamous Stormfront recognized the opportunities for recruitment there years ago.
Good to know, i was having trouble on mobile with it. Thanks!
I'm glad I left that site. They just view us all as little addicts and have lost any semblance of caring about what made reddit work in the first place.
It's a fair take given until recently prices had remained largely static for what? 15 years?
That being said, I see the current price as an excuse for how buggy they can be at release. If AAA studios wan to charge me $80 but their games work on day 1 and require far fewer patches just to hit a basic benchmark of "stable" then I'm open-minded. But until that happens, I'm not very keen on seeing a significant price hike. I'd also want to see crunch wiped out as part of it.
What were some movies you had to look up explanations of after watching?

Does Pi-Hole disrupt anything important?
