Yeah we get Jehovah's Witnesses - I just let them excitedly tell me all about their beliefs for ages and pretend to be interested. Then eventually I will say something like - Well, that does sound reasonable - I will have to tell my husband about this.
They tend to fid an excuse to leave after that - which is at least one nice thing about them, some other groups - will tell me that my "lifestyle choices" are immoral and I will go to hell. Jehovah's don't - they just leave.
I start from the bottom. You can line up the buttons without needing to look in a mirror. I don't understand why anyone would start buttoning from the top. It's just less efficient. Explain your reasoning
If I start from the bottom, I either accidentally start one button up on one side, or as I am going up I somehow skip a button. End result is that I have no holes left and one button left over at the top. So I start from the top and work down, and almost always - that works out for me.
Oh God. Oh the humanity! Why would you even put that picture in my head..... I'm so stressed out now visualising which direction I would go in after buttoning the middle button. Oh this is like psychological warfare....
How do you set up a server? Do you do any automation or do you just open up an SSH session and YOLO? Any containers? Is docker-compose enough for you or are you one of those unicorns who had no issues whatsoever with rootless Podman? Do you use any premade scripts or do you hand craft it all? What distro are you building on top...

Currently I only have 2 comments still visible which for some reason the Power Delete tool couldn't remove. I will check back in a week though if someone can remind me, and see if any of mine have magically reappeared.

Since rpis have been almost impossible to find, I've been looking around for alternatives for some local self hosted services like home assistant. A lot of boards seem to talk about GPU, GPIO pins, etc. But I really just want a single board, fanless (low power), decent CPU and RAM, ethernet....
Lewis from Everything Smart Home dropped a video a few weeks back, telling us about the Zimaboard - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr7vo9NAWfo low power, fanless, single board etc.
I like the experience. I typically like the hardware too.
It doesn't run stock Android, it runs a Google-ified version of stock, and I like the features they add.
For example on my Pixel 6, being able to do instant live translate with my Brazilian friend on Instagram chat, is amazing. I write in Portuguese via GBoard's built in Translate option, and when he replies it is automatically translated back to English.
Right around the time federation was reenabled, I noticed that kbin now opens with "all" on the front page even though I have it set to "subscriptions" in my settings. This happens on both my phone and a couple of different computers that I've tried. Has anyone else noticed this?...
It's quite similar to when I used to run a small cafe and people would say "you can make this yourself", "you can make that yourself" instead of buying stuff in - then they would say "if it hasn't sold by the end of the day, you can just eat it yourself - you don't have to throw it away".
Yes - that was fine when it was just egg mayonnaise. But then Tuna mayonnaise, and Chicken mayonnaise and then grated cheese, and ham....
When am I going to have time to eat all these unsold sandwich fillings? Oh and cakes, and scones....
A small amount is fine.
A few subscription services is fine.
But gradually EVERYTHING wants you to pay a "fair" monthly fee. Until you are spending more on these monthly fees, than you are on the electricity bill!
I self host FreshRSS and among the many sites I subscribe to, I also subscribe to quite a few hashtags on Mastodon which I'm aware isn't highly publicised so not everyone knows you can do that.
If someone reads this comment that didn't know you could do that -
(Set your purge limits aggressively, because despite people suggesting otherwise, you will very quickly have thousands of unread articles to trawl through)
#android#fediverse#homeassistant for my interests - and #introduction to make sure that I see and boost plenty of newcomers to get them a good start on the fediverse. It's introduction in particular that requires a very aggressive purge policy! I only keep I think 50 introduction posts across 3 days, but even then - my FreshRSS is typically 1200 articles on a daily basis.

Exactly the same reason many of us stopped bothering with broadcast shows. Networks don't realise that when someone invests time in a new show, and then it just gets killed off, people become less willing to invest time in the next new show.
As for Netflix - they have spent more time and money advertising Stranger Things than literally any other Netflix original on the service. And I love Stranger Things - but it's very unfair that they don't treat the rest of their content with as much love. Sense8 is a prime example - what an amazing show. That I found out about AFTER it had been cancelled.
Wait The Midnight Club got cancelled? F*ck - I'm part way through that.... I don't know if I should bother finishing it now....
There's been quite a few that really shocked me along with 1899, I think it was called Daybreak but I'll need to check, hold on - yup, it was. That was a really good series, apocalyptic, but with great humour. Didn't make it past season 1. And it's the fact that like I could understand it if it was because of poor viewing figures, but I see stuff trending in the top 10 practically worldwide - and then it's announced it has been cancelled. Like what?
It's that thing that you eventually have to give in to, lest you turn into a gibbering wreck, unable to do something as simple as make a cup of coffee, without doing something stupid like putting the kettle in the fridge and wondering why the bottle of milk doesn't have a switch on it to boil it.....

In the US we have Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses that do this; are there any similar in the UK and what kind of religion do they proselytize?
