These people not being able to do the things they like to do anymore is why we have a growing Christian nationalist movement in this country. Don't let them fool you that what they want is righteous or just. What they want is continued power over others with no consequences for their actions.

AMERICA'S SUPERHERO!

Jack Smith defends my and your democracy. He stands between it and tyrants like Donald J. Trump who want to ignore our tenets of democracy and insert his own will!

As a person of color, I wish I could say I had the self control not to let this rhetoric that slavery had benefit to anyone but the slave owners get to me. It is absolutely infuriating that anyone would suggest such abject fucking garbage, and anyone who thinks thereโ€™s a bright side to owning other people can get entirely fucked.

Gutfeld finally made it to a regular time slot eh? I remember when they had this clown prancing around at 2am, not as a re-run but because that was the actual time slot they gave him.

He was a clown then and he's a clown now, FNC must be running out of vapid blondes to parade around if they're scraping Gutfeld up and putting him on.

The worst part is he thinks heโ€™s extremely witty and droll. His smirk every time he thinks he says something funny is just awful.

The fake electors from Michigan saying they were โ€œdupedโ€ into signing/their signatures were copied onto the form, sounds plausible, but the video of their group trying to get into the state house to follow through on their fake scheme, kinda belies that.

BigMcLargeHuge,

They were so fucking proud of their little rebellion cosplay, but now...now they were just there to deliver coffee, I don't know those people, and I was on the Moon, with Steve, at the time.

One thousand percent agree. So much so, in fact, that after reading synopses of what was written into the show, I didnโ€™t bother watching even one episode. Foundation is by far my favorite science fiction of all time. I understand why liberties would of necessity be taken with the story in order to make compelling television - but this - whatโ€™s been done - was not necessary.

And itโ€™s refreshing to be able to say so. On reddit, all the Asimov real estate appears to be fully bought and paid for by corporate masters - this opinion would be deleted and you might well be banned.

Exclusive: Texas troopers told to push children into Rio Grande, deny water to migrants, records say (www.houstonchronicle.com)

Officers working for Gov. Greg Abbottโ€™s border security initiative have been ordered to push small children and nursing babies back into the Rio Grande, and have been told not to give water to asylum seekers even in extreme heat, according to an email from a Department of Public Safety trooper who described the actions as...

Drusas,

It's nice to see a trooper standing up against these atrocities, but still extremely saddening that vulnerable people are being treated this way.

Base Air Show Featuring Scantily Clad Models Raises Questions About Justification for Drag Show Ban (www.military.com)

At Joint Base Lewis-McChord's air show just outside of Tacoma, Washington, this past weekend, onlookers and families saw tactical military jets, high-performance sports cars and risquรฉ models dancing on stage in skintight red, white and blue bikinis, part of what organizers described as a "way to thank the Puget Sound...

No it doesn't raise any questions, it's just more evidence on the pile that they're never honest about their justifications for doing what they do, and they'll apply their laws selectively as it suits em.

HandsHurtLoL,

I think conservatives are fine with skimpy models at events like this around children than drag shows because it contributes to compulsory heterosexuality (comphet), whereas drag shows - they assume - will make you gay if you watch them.

Their argument has been in the past year or so "sexualizing children," but as with many of their culture wars, there's the implied statement not said out loud: away from heterosexuality.

These folks still participate in purity pledges at daddy-daughter dances in which a prepubescent girl promises her sexual purity to her father until she is married off. Tell me that isn't sexualizing kids!

Drusas,

The Times reported that just months after Thomas joined the bench in 1991, he was welcomed into the Horatio Alger Association...where he forged relationships with a select group of largely wealthy conservatives. This organization granted him access to wealthy friends who gifted Thomas with vacation retreats and V.I.P. tickets to sporting events, as well as invited him to parties, according to The Times.

The Timesโ€™s investigation discovered that Thomas received benefits from the members of the association and large donors to conservative causes. Among many of the contacts he made through the group was David Sokol, an investor and former executive at Berkshire Hathaway, who hosted Thomas and his wife Ginny at their ranch in Montana and property in Florida.

The investigation said that Thomas did not disclose many of the gifts and trips over the last two decades reported by the Times. Thomas used to report the personal gifts and travel benefits he received, but the Times reported that after a 2004 investigation by The Los Angeles Times came out about his disclosures, he largely stopped disclosing them.

The Times noted that Sokol, along with other members of the association, also funded the marketing for an HBO film about Anita Hillโ€™s allegations of sexual harassment brought against Thomas. Thomas has also been a speaker at the Horatio Alger Associationโ€™s annual inaugural reception and ceremony, which he has hosted at the Supreme Court, according to the investigation.

According to the associationโ€™s website, Thomas is an honorary member of the board of directors.

Emphasis mine.

Sorry to quote so much of the story, but for any who don't actually read the articles, these are the main points and pretty damning. So not only has Thomas been proven to receive extravagant gifts from wealthy, conservative donors who have had cases seen before the Supreme Court, without disclosing them or recusing himself, he is also proven to have been involved with an organization that made a documentary about the woman who accused him of sexual misconduct. And he is a member of that board.

He couldn't be more corrupt if he tried.

TheOtherJake,

Itโ€™s corruption at every level. Like, people keep talking about whatever stupid thing the toxic clowns of the Republican party are doing. The whole point is to ensure no effective laws are passed. It is not about the clown politics it is about maintaining the insignificant tiny set of laws and protections in the USA. The US has a tenth of the laws present in any western country. This is the whole point. Keep the laws ineffective and inadequate to exploit every possible person and loophole by any means necessary. The only thing that matters is controlling the conversation and holding the government hostage to a constant ddos attack. If anything gets deregulated or changed for the worse it is just a bonus side effect for the parasitic billionaires.
