So, if I want to post something on, say, the Technology community o. Midwest.Social, is it good/bad etiquette to also post it on the Technology community on another instance like Lemmy.ml or beehaw.org?
Would be nice to have some sort of native crosspost function similar to Reddit's, so that threads are connected to each other rather than just reposted separately.
This question is especially for people who have joined in the last week. Have you used other fediverse platforms or is this your first time really using one? What do you think of it so far? Are you aware that you can comment on Lemmy posts with a Mastodon account?
Personally I think not having karma limits is nice currently! I understand why they were used but grinding karma as a lurker on reddit was frustrating.
Leaked trailer for Persona 3 Reloaded! Is anyone else really excited for this? I held off on buying the P3P remaster since I had yet to finish P5R, and I'm glad I did. This remake looks incredible!
Big kerfuffle going around is that apparently FeMC might not be in it, at least according to prior leaks that predicted this. It might not even have The Answer either, which'll mean it's missing content from both versions.
Of course it's possible that might be proven wrong, but if she's not in the trailer she's probably gone.
Articles are Lemmy/Reddit-style posts, microblogs are Mastodon/Twitter-style posts. Kbin is interesting in that it can talk to both types of networks this way.
I think how it works is that kbin is able to post microblogs to any magazine, but anything federated from other software that doesn't know what a magazine is just goes to /m/random.
We successfully defend against this push and get them three down. I'm not sure where the Splash is, but at least they're not going for the tower, maybe they've already fallen back? I look around, don't see them, opt to just toss my Booyah ahead for paint, paint to my right just to double check, and then move up since the coast...
I see kbin supports video upload, but with how the servers are getting hammered I thought I'd hold off on that and just link my old post. Also wanted to test if it could embed Pleroma inline, but the media preview button just shows a still image.
I just saw an email from Buy Me a Coffee. Not just one. I went in, and I'm truly shocked. Thank you all for the support; I would like to thank each and every one of you individually someday. Honestly, I don't know what to say. The account balance is $350, which will definitely allow me to develop kbin faster or at least not...
I came into kbin with kinda low expectations. I fear that Reddit is too big to fail, and that if a competitor isn't already where Reddit was when Digg died it won't achieve the critical mass needed to get anywhere. My impression of Lemmy was that it's just not ready yet.
But the more I explore kbin, the more impressed I am with the software. It's still a long way to go to attract the userbase, and I still don't know if that critical mass will come, but I want to try and push for this. Let's see what happens, nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Lately I often read about kbin.social being similar to lemmy but more accessible. So I created an account there to check it out. My experience so far is a little mixed. From kbin I can access all Lemmy posts, although I find the interface less intuitive to join new communities. So from the kbin side it feels like an other Lemmy...
I'm intrigued by the idea of being able to talk to other Fediverse apps, but searching for my Pleroma account at @missingno to test this out turns up nothing. Is there some way to force discovery?
I'm Missingno., backline player for HarmonInk♪. I main Explosher, CJet, and Heavy Splatling. Also working on learning Ballpoint out of peer pressure, but I'm still figuring out how to accomplish anything when I pop my Inkjet. I also really like Salmon Run.
I wanted to get a pulse check on how new members are finding the general experience/website. Is it more confusing than Reddit or are you finding the instance system a better way of doing things as it can give you more freedom of where you choose to create an account?...
I like the idea and KBin's software looks really nice. My concern is that it just won't have the critical mass needed to get what I got out of Reddit: niche subs. On Reddit, every single game has its own individual sub and they're all active. That's not gonna work here.
I did set up !fgc and !splatoon, but I don't know if these will take off, and I'm not going to bother trying with individual fighting games or smaller indie titles.
Also, I'm intrigued that KBin is able to talk to Mastodon and Pleroma, but I can't seem to find myself. I search for @missingno but nothing shows up.
Skullgirls - Although I say SG is my main game, truthfully I haven't made as much time to grind these days as I'd like. Drowned in pools at Combo Breaker. But after 8 years I'm okay with letting this be my casual comfort game now, don't have the drive to try and catch up to the top players anymore but I still enjoy playing Quick Match from time to time.
Them's Fightin' Herds - On the other hand I have been more focused on pushing my Velvet, managed to make top 16 at Combo Breaker this year. Top 8 next year!
Splatoon 3 - I've also been getting into Splatoon competitive, bit of a change of pace for me as everything else I play is 1v1, but I'm really in love with this game. Can't say I'm as good at it as I'd like to be, but I keep practicing. (By the way, I made a Splatoon sub here if anyone's interested)
Slay the Spire - This is just an addiction. After about 800 hours of vanilla I now screw around with the silliest Workshop mod characters I can find. Makes for a good background game while watching Youtube.
Persona 5 Royal - Attempting to make time for JRPGs in between my competitive stuff is probably a mistake, but I keep trying to do it anyway. Currently on the third palace.
What game mechanics do you enjoy or that surprised you when playing a game? I recently started playing Tunic and I love building out the "manual" for the game and getting hints on how to play.
Boss fights that are synchronized to the music. Not too many I can think of off the top of my head right now though. There's Violette in One Step From Eden, and I guess you can count the final stage of Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion sorta loosely did this with the final minute transition.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to go back i promise, quite the contrary actually cause I think spez plans to just decrease the cost of the API and act like it was a bargain deal sacrifice while not solving any of the issues at all...
I'm not gone yet and I don't know if I actually will be. No matter how frustrated I am with the platform and have been for years now, I don't feel that anything else is ready to replace it.
I wish Lemmy the best but I have my doubts as to how well it'll take off. I remember when Digg died, Reddit was already popular enough to make jumping ship a no brainer for just about everyone. Lemmy is not there yet, and I don't know if it ever will be. It's much smaller than Mastodon/Fediverse, and that's been very slow to pull users away from the even more hated platform it wants to challenge. Can Lemmy achieve the critical mass it needs to succeed?
What's mainly keeping me on Reddit is certain small subs for niche hobbies. Only on the largest platforms is it possible to find people who share my microinterests. Reddit and Discord are it, and Discord really only works as an ephemeral chatroom, it's terrible for news or threaded discussion. Not to mention how much of a problem it is that Discord isn't indexed by search engines.
What are your favorite board games? Me and my friends love playing board games, but I get the feeling their tired of playing the same things. What do you guys usually play? My favorite board game of all time is HeroQuest. I never get tired of playing it. Also love Catan, Arkham Horror, Betrayal House on the Hill, Spyfall (great...
I really like BattleCon, a fighting game-inspired card/board game that did a really good job translating the mindgames and oki into a turn-based format. They had an online version of it but sadly halted development because they couldn't figure out how to monetize it.
I also love me some good ol' Riichi Mahjong. There's a group that brings tiles to fighting game tournaments since these are becoming cons in disguise, I got some nice hands at Combo Breaker this year.
I've gone ahead and created https://kbin.social/m/fgc and https://kbin.social/m/splatoon. Would like to have focused subs for individual fighting games (Skullgirls, ThemsFightinHerds), but that's probably not practical yet. Generally I'd just like to look up whatever game I'm playing right now and find a community for it.
Would also like to see /mahjong as well, may set that up myself later.

Hoping this is correct. Whats a Thread under a magazine, especially vs. a Microblog
And why must I create a new 'article' to make a thread and not a post - which I think makes a new microblog....
