My dog is fine, though, which is the most important thing to me. The raccoons scratched my arm kinda bad and my legs are covered in scratches. My doctor can’t be sure if the raccoons had saliva on their claws, and wants me to get rabies shots just in case. She sent me to an ER because she can’t get the shots in our area....
The simple fact that untreated rabies is almost 100% fatal means that the vaccine is worth it. Not many diseases are almost 100% fatal, and at least this one's preventable if caught.
I've always been of the opinion that a person's go-to insult shows more about themselves than anything else. Like how the people who shout the loudest about gays tend to be closet homosexuals, etc. Same with pedophiles. And Elon is very quick to call someone a pedophile. His whole family is weird and messed up — his father groomed his stepdaughter (Elon's stepsister) that he raised since she was 4 years old, and they have several kids together — so it wouldn't surprise me if Elon is himself a pedophile.
That's what happens when you hire Stanley Kubrick to stage your moon landing video. The guy's such a perfectionist, he insisted on shooting on location.
I have never taken a selfie in my entire life. The feature is entirely pointless for me. Are there any smartphones that don’t have a front facing camera?
You're thinking of the gyroscope, but no. Some phones have a dedicated proximity sensor for things like detecting if you're in a call and have the phone up to your ear, but more and more phones (especially the budget ones) these days use a "virtual" proximity sensor which utilizes the front camera to perform the same function.
I watched Nimona on the weekend, it kind of took over my life briefly. It was a blue sky project that spent several years in development before being sold on when the studio closed, bought up by netflix, set to release during the pandemic, then delayed. Let’s say my expectations were low but a depth chage came along and blew...

::: spoiler spoiler
Loved the movie, but found that the ending was the weakest part. I don't mind the resolution we got, it's just how we got that resolution that has some parts missing. How did the people suddenly go from fearing her to calling her a hero? Sure, she saved the city from getting blown up, but one act alone doesn't easily undo a thousand years of prejudice. After all, it doesn't seem like anyone knows the truth about what happened between Nimona and Gloreth. How did they clear Nimona's name of the Director's accusation? Who runs the kingdom now? Why didn't that dudebro knight get his face punched in? The ending was fine, but they glossed over a lot of parts that would have made the ending make more sense.

I tried Jerboa briefly and couldn't get it to work well for me. Then I visited kbin on my phone's browser and was prompted to install the kbin app!? I haven't seen any references to it, but it's exactly what I wanted...? Has anybody else tried it?
If you think that's nice, try it with the Kbin Usability Pack userscript. You'll need the Tampermonkey extension to use it, so you'll have to get Fennec (a fork of Firefox mobile) on F-Droid to use it. A bit of a hassle, but well worth it. I pair it with the Kbin Enhancement Script.
As of a few days ago, Tampermonkey wasn't compatible with Firefox Android (it's what I tried first). There was a way to get Firefox Beta to install Tampermonkey, but it wasn't straightforward. This happens often with the official Firefox Stable, where add-on compatibility gets left behind sometimes during updates.
Bluesky, a decentralized Twitter-like social network, is pausing new signups “temporarily” to try and resolve performance issues it’s been experiencing after Twitter introduced limits on the amount of tweets you can see in a day. No. It's decentralized like the Fediverse, but it doesn't use ActivityPub. I think there are some 3rd party developers working on an ActivityPub-Bluesky bridge, but nothing concrete yet.
I have now released a significant new update for KUP that introduces a new experimental mobile UI and adds support for the coming release of the Kbin platform....
It's not in Tampermokey nor do you need to fiddle with the code. It adds a section to the settings page for the script's various toggles. If you're on mobile, click on the menu icon, then the settings (gear) icon, then scroll down to see the script settings. You may need to toggle open the settings panel.
Updated to 0.3.3 on Fennec for Android, and now it seems I can't tap on the hamburger menu icon. Disabled all other extensions and userscripts, leaving only KUP, and can confirm that this seems to be an issue with this script.
Also, unrelated to KUP, but for some reason, I can't seem to upvote/favorite your comments in this thread. Only yours, too, since it seems to work fine for others. Weird.
And that, Musky, is why sites generally provide an API and don't lock it behind prohibitive pricing. Because the alternative is to scrape your site, and that's more resource intensive for the site in question.
Tomorrow, reddit will be shutting off 3rd party app access. If the twitter migration is anything to go by, that means that the wave of new users coming in the next few weeks will be much bigger than the wave we saw earlier this month....

Considering how surnames originate, that would be interesting finding out just what the ancestor who first used that name did in order to be known by it.
