Nevertel - Everything in My Mind

Reminds me of the band Bad Omens

Federation problems? Post about it here.

After a full week of trying to fix this and a few days of running with multiple patches, it seems as though there are still problems with federation. So I’m resorting to crowd sourcing: if you notice any problems interacting with other instances (voting, commenting, posting), or you’re from another one and can’t interact...

Is it not? I can see and interact with my kbin account.

Commenting from my kbin account:
Here's the extension and here are the kbin styles available

There's also a magazine dedicated to this here

It's federated so I was able to follow it on mastodon. No post about this current problem though. !voyagerapp has a post talking about not being able to access it, same with other apps.

Edit: ah looks like the post hasn't been federated? here's the direct link to the post https://lemmy.world/post/1817513 https://lemmy.fmhy.ml/post/1262280

Are lots of websites really going downhill and/or closing or does it just seem like it to me?

Like many people I'm here because of reddit going to shit. Twitter has increasingly been shit. gycat is shutting down in September. To me it seems like lots of bastions of social media are crumpling, but as a previous active reddit user, I've been personally effected. Is this just a frequency illusion or has something changed...

It was Snapchat that bought them out. Not any better though.

Supreme Court halts Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan (www.washingtonpost.com)

The Supreme Court has blocked President Biden's plan to cancel up to $20,000 in student loan debt for more than 40 million Americans. The court's conservative justices expressed skepticism about Biden's authority to forgive student loan debt without direct authorization from Congress.

TIL in Japan raw eggs are generally safe to eat. This is because the country has developed a "super egg machine" that checks the inside of the eggs for salmonella using spectroscopic analysis. It a... (www.mashed.com)

While most eggs are considered unsafe to eat when raw, there's a scientifically interesting reason eggs are generally safe to eat raw in Japan.

Lemmy.ml is blocking all requests from /kbin Instances

I discovered yesterday evening that Lemmy.ml is blocking all inbound ActivityPub requests from /kbin instances. Specifically, a 403 'access denied' is returned when the user agent contains "kbinBot" anywhere in the string. This has been causing a cascade of failures with federation for many server owners, flooding the message...

I've noticed this too. While I can post on a lemmy.ml community from kbin, I can't see it show up on my lemmy account.

I still check it every now and then to see updates on where some of my more niche communities are moving if they are at all.

YSK Why American-style suburbs are a Ponzi scheme (www.youtube.com)

The financial unsustainability of traditional, car-centric American suburbs, consisting mainly of single-family units, is a critical aspect of the problem of urban sprawl. The design of these suburbs necessitates constant expansion into undeveloped land. This is because the initial infrastructure costs, such as roads, utilities,...

Re-reading Ready Player One. I want to forget how bad the sequel is and how they butchered all character development at the beginning of the book.

what's your favorite Gameboy game that isn't Pokemon or Mario?

I've just rediscovered my childhood Gameboys, I grew up in the 90s and had an original, a color, an advance and an sp. My game collection has whittled down over the year to the usual suspects, Pokemons, Zelda's, Mario's and some other standards. But I want to dive into some games that 7 year old me would have brushed over. So...

Easily Dragon Warrior III. There was so much content and at the time there weren't abundant guides and spoilers, and to not spoil the next person I'll just say it's like Pokemon Gold and Silver in terms of content and surprises.

That's a solid list. Very similar tastes

I played the entirety of Destiny 1. Was looking forward to the move to PC with the sequel but everything after was just disappointment after disappointment. Every season just felt like the final season of HIMYM, all buildup and no payoff.

I'm surprised Honkai Star Rail hasn't been mentioned. It's turn based and much less time consuming than the other popular Hoyoverse game, Genshin

Love the Akira Toriyama aesthetic. I just hope it doesn't go the way of Blue Dragon.

Have you heard of Tangledeep? Might be up your alley. The enemies move when you move.
