chaogomu,

As OP said, it was 18 Magazines, not the entire site.

Ernest is our site admin over here on kbin.social, and he's cool. A bit over worked, but cool. He's also the dev of kbin.

edent,

Both! Unicode has some support for as-is ligatures. For example is U+FB01.

Modern fonts can also use self-defined ligatures. That's how fonts like https://www.sansbullshitsans.com/

So my plan is (eventually) to add in ligatures where Unicode has defined them - and automatically replace typed text with self-defined ligatures where it doesn't.

HunterHog,

Oh, I love everything about this project so much! It looks lovely!

It also looks mighty useful for making handouts for TTRPG campaigns ahaha.

Was the letter-recognition Python codeblock of your own making?

Of course they do, better than ever actually. Google OpenType ligatures, for example. You can even use those on the web using CSS.

Some fonts have hundreds of different ligatures.

Honey bees and social wasps reach convergent architectural solutions to nest-building problems (journals.plos.org)

Honey bees and social wasps independently evolved hexagonal cells in their nests, but in some species, cell size dimorphism creates an inherent tiling problem. This study shows that despite independent evolutionary origins, building materials, and comb configurations, all species solve this architectural problem using the same...

Silverseren,

The actual original stated history near the start of the religion is that Adam and Eve weren't the "first people" to exist, just the first Jewish/Christian people created by God. Since it was common belief and understanding at the time that other gods also existed from the other religions and created their own peoples.

Judaism was monotheistic only in regards to following a single god, but it fully recognized other existences in a much larger pantheon.

It was only later that Jewish and Christian scholars denigrated the existence of other gods to be "demons" worshipped by pagans and thus lower than the "one true god" and all that nonsense.

NSFW content in the sidebar random posts

Hi, I was just browsing kbin on my work pc which is not signed into my account. While scrolling down there was a very nsfw picture (female genitalia) in the random posts sidebar. This nsfw content was, for some reason, not even blurred. I've seen this a couple times previously and am not sure where a good place to report or...

Hi, in this and probably the next week, I will be working on these tasks:

Today, I will be slightly less available as I am in the final stages of taking care of all the formalities, and I also had to handle a few personal matters. Starting tomorrow, I will be back at full capacity again. When this succeeds, in the next releases, I will focus more on frontend and accessibility.

This is an old topic from Reddit, sorry about that, but I think the community would benefit from separating porn and other types of nsfw by adding the nsfl tag.

I've seen several posts lately of people complaining about porn showing up in their feeds and the posters say that they don't want to block all nsfw posts because they follow other things, like news from the war in Ukraine, that gets tagged nsfw because of graphic imagery. I think they have a reasonable complaint and that the...

How this is confusing people or purposely being obstinate is beyond me lol.

There REALLY should be two separate tags for content like you've said.

NSFW = Porn.

NSFL = Gore.

That's it lol.

What does blocking someone actually do?

What does blocking on kbin actually do? I’m asking because it seems incomplete, to put it mildly. If you block someone, they can still see what you post and reply to you and you’re still sent notifications of their replies, even though you can’t see the comment itself (or any replies other people make to comments of an...

i'm certainly not asking for comments for the sake of comments, i am asking for less lurking and more generating. people usually have something to say, add, or discuss, it's effort-level is subjective. i just want those people to feel encouraged to speak out, its safer to do so here than it was on reddit, and it's also helpful

mifuyne,

In the future, if you wish to link to an article, please include the link(s) to either the project’s official site, their source repository, or both. Just in case a reader would rather look at the project first before digesting someone else’s opinion. Plus, ItsFoss.com can be very ad-heavy (made the mistake of going there without an ad-blocker once) and not everyone uses ad-blockers.

Thanks!
