I've just discovered (should be Sir) Roy Kerr (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Kerr) , #NewZealand mathematician famous for his solution for rotating black holes published a paper last month which showed #singularities do not have to exist in a #BlackHole, at least not how the 2020 Nobel prize winner Sir Roger Penrose described. #Today, I am celebrating my 4 years without flying ✈️.

The #Earth’s #climate is perturbed by #human activites. One of the easiest things to do towards #sustainability is to cut air travels. Thus, 4 years ago, I cut my frequent flyer cards and decided to #StayGrounded, using only low-#carbon travel means such as #train.

It just amazes me that people keep expecting me to fly all over the place for conferences and seminar lectures. I've gotten uninvited to 2 conferences in the last couple weeks by politely asking if I could give the invited talk remotely instead. This is dumb, we need to change.

Numerous sources claim that TurnItIn has a generative AI detector with something like 98% sensitivity and 99% specificity.

For example, the Washington Post, below.

This is completely implausible given that OpenAI themselves only claim to be able to achieve 26% sensitivity and 91% specificity.

So where does this wild claim come from? I think I've figured it out.
