As I mentioned, I found ryanjsims' kbot repo and forked it, creating @MegaHAL, a monster^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H a chatbot based on @lol, which uses the MegaHAL library for #python to generate text for posting....

@bearcam@TropicalReefAquarium Typically I make bots that post only every 4-6 hours, but I figured since these are mostly live feeds, posting hourly makes sense? Easier to catch something interesting happening. Let me know what you think.
Also, a fun fact, adding these to https://botwiki.org brings the total number of bots on the site to 2,001 🎉
For bots that post random stuff from a list, do you post completely randomly, or do you tweak your bot to, for example, avoid posting the same thing twice in a row?

ClaudeBot is new to me, it’s an AI bot, and it was hitting us fast and hard from 398 IP addresses non-stop for over an hour, completely shutting down our site. Using fail2ban we managed to block it, but WTF is wrong with these people. Claudebot comes from these people: https://www.anthropic.com/
that claim “Anthropic is an AI safety and research company working to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.” Probably best if you block them before they get to your sites.
Nice to see that @himawari_wpac has been back up and posting for a while with no crashes. Not sure what caused the last crash exactly, but hope the error reporting is robust enough now that I'll be able to figure it out. #bots
