@whoisryosuke I'm usually a very stubborn open-standards-only person. The "I had an 'MP3-stick' that also supported Ogg Vorbis because I only had those" kind. The "No binary blobs in my OS and BIOS" kind. But, I admit, secretly, MiniDisc still makes me smile very fondly. So damn neat. Such a shame it arrived late to the scene and was hampered by Sony doing everything in their power to hamstring it's killer feature, perfect copies, by not making proper computer drives for it and only its craptacular NetMD software...
「 CDP-897 is a unit from 1992. It’s 32 years old, and it works flawlessly. All buttons work, CD reading is spot on, audio it generates through all outputs is clear. It even came with a full service manual, which till this can day can be easily found on the web. Nowadays not many things exist after 5 years of purchase, and here I am. Just another happy owner in the 30-year history of this player. 」
@hyde@adamsdesk I’ve known someone whose spent time repairing the main circuit and other part on their TV. Some of it was doable but also not meant for repairs either.
When they finally spent enough time and money on repair parts, a salesman told them to not use Sony either.
Join in 30 minutes over on https://twitch.tv/imperorthefirst and cheer for democracy with this new recruit. Capitalism for once defeated itself and thus the stream card for tonight will commemorate this momentous event!
Edit: I already could see it, but especially after your post this morning: Your good people, Liam. I'm a huge fan of your approach, I'm sick to death of that insidious crap too. Keep that banhammer slick with blood!
