Have not had an opportunity to visit Auschwitz but have been to Dachau, Ravenbrück, Oranienburg, & Sachsenhausen. Could not agree more that we need to reflect on our collective responsibility for our fellow human beings regardless. Period.

We both hope people remember and avoid perpetrating the atrocities which Auschwitz Museum is a stark reminder of. In that same hope, we both decry any atrocities on both sides of the Israel-Hamas war.

As we watch, year after year in Britain, national commemorations honour the dead of WWI and WWII pledging “Never again”, yet successive UK governments have invaded other sovereign states causing untold suffering to their populations and sold modern weapons by the ton to tyrannical regimes for use against civilian populations!
And now filling our TV screens we witness scenes of the “most most moral army” of the state of Israel (sadly in the name of all Jews) pursuing a one-sided genocidal war against the largely defenceless, caged-in #Palestinian population of #Gaza!
I have no quarrel with your organisation! I absolutely acknowledge the #Holocaust & the suffering endured by all its victims. I’m just horrified that Holocaust memory seems to have become an instrument of ideology rather than a means of connecting with the past and, as a result, it’s prime “Never Again” purpose has tragically been hijacked so as to protect the #Israeli state.
If you somehow think that it is unethical that Gaza is conquered in 2023 by the IDF you also think that about the attack of the Red Army on Berlin in 1945.

Your organization has no other purpose than to prevent the horrors which Israel experienced on Simhat Torah. Now that you have failed in that - now that we have all failed in that - the least you can do is support the war effort with every resource you have.

What is the correct response to a terrorist force invading your country, killing over a thousand civilians, kidnapping hundreds (offering to let some of them go in the event of a ceasefire), continuously firing thousands of rockets at civilian targets (with such piss-poor aim that about 30% land in their own territory), continually attempting invasions by sea, and repeatedly calling for global genocide? What is proportionate to that?
People trapped in an open air prison aren't going to manage to commit genocide against you anyway. This isn't some kind of even contest, and pretending it is is farcical. Your government fucked up by building up hamas, hamas did horrible terrorist things, and then you responded by displacing a million people, doing horrible terrorist things, and you appear to just be getting started.

The Israeli government isn't my government, and is not responsible for the decisions on the part of Hamas to target and slaughter and kidnap and keep civilians. Hamas are people, they have basic agency.

Israel does not target any civilians. Statistics out of Gaza are all from Hamas, and do not distinguish between causes of death (Hamas and PIJ kill Palestinians too, sometimes by accident and sometimes on purpose).
Hamas uses civilians as human shields. I could link you to dozens of sources as evidence if you weren't proud of your ignorance. Anybody wanna see them?
