Home Econ.
Anyone heard of this? And for bonus points, participated?
I’ve thought since I was a young adult that those experiences absolutely helped me out in running a household. And I am sure most young adults now have very little experience to help them out in even basic tasks.
Here’s an example: not one of the caregivers I’ve had under the age of 30 knew how to use a can opener.

@cobalt
My year-younger sister took home economics in school and attended CGIT.
My 'baby' sister, fourteen years younger didn't, though she has the knowing of can openers [from Girl Guide camping weekends.]

Recently I started to travel a lot again and I don't really have motivation and time for drawing practice.

Today though I managed to get some:
This time I was experimenting with quick sketch. Instead of really looking at proportions between shapes I started with one shape and based whole drawing on circles with specific ratios.

That's why the nose it too big :bongoCat: It's easy to get lost when you loose reference and try to go faster with

Ilan Pappe, an Israeli historian, warned as early as in the 1990s that the Israeli educational system was producing a different kind of Zionists. Israeli children are socialized into hating and dehumanizing their Arab & Palestinians neighbors. It explains why the majority of Israelis are not even troubled by the perpetual brutality against Palestinians. @palestine

The GOP spent five decades trying to create the Supreme Court into what is there today and still needed the tyranny of the minority of the Electoral College twice to get what they wanted. Why some people think one Presidential election can completely undo that, rather than preparing for a generational struggle that could be just as long and do just as much to get the Court—with Justices who hold life tenure—back to some level of sanity is absolutely beyond my understanding.

We really need to do a much better job teaching civics in this country.

If you're not from the US and want to travel here. Don't.

I thought as a (German and white) visitor I'm gonna be fine.

Border and customs protection took my phone, forced me to unlock it and stole god knows what data from it. The agent was powertripping and made sure to let me know that I am powerless and he can just send me home or do godknowswhat to me.

He directly said "if you're annoying I'm just sending you home".

Apparently my trans ass was part of a "random search". Lol.

I'm fine now and with Lexi luckily. I don't know what kind of malware is on my phone, or what they took from it. I've been crying all throughout my connecting flight.

This place is a dystopian shithole. Please don't go here.

You had a typical border experience. Once you make it in there, assuming you don't have to interface with their law enforcement nor medical 'systems,' you may have a pleasant visit.

Hearing about scam victims via phones etc, there's a simple rule of thumb that can protect you:

"The people who made your phone (computer, operating system) are NEVER going to call you. Full stop. They won't."

The near future will see permanent bases and resource extraction on The Moon. The current Artemis mission is moving towards this goal as I write this post. Plans to set up operations at the poles are being laid or underway in more than a couple of Nations already. Kids in school today may be offered jobs on The Moon from private companies.
I imagine that these jobs would be quite elite. One day the trip may be safe enough for tourists with Lunar hotels and such, but I think the early days will be much harder. Workers will have to be qualified astronauts and the expense of sending a workforce to The Moon will require spending a long time there, being too expensive to send you home every weekend. Here on Earth, Fly-in, Fly-out workers can work long shifts with arrangements like 14 day on, 14 off. As a FIFO worker on The Moon, you will likely spend much longer.
The job will be well paid, and working on a new frontier will be exciting, but would quickly lose its shine.
The Sun would go up and two weeks later it would set, and home - Earth - would just hang there, through a two week long days and two week long nights, spinning in place.

All this inspired my song “It’s Always Monday On The Moon”, named because Monday literally means Day of the Moon.

Thanks for listening!

On any online space, you should consider who you give power to. Who has the control over who you choose to associate with? Power doesn't corrupt. It reveals.

People in real life do choose to avoid dangerous or toxic places.

All that the instances who sign the fedipact are doing is signalling to some of us that somewhere is safe for folk who don't want to engage with Facebook at all.

This is a Freedom of Association issue, not a Freedom of Speech issue.

Do people who feel an urgent need to proselytize to the dying even realize that they aren't the only ones doing it?

Do they realize that I've heard from a few other people too?

That I've got a few other pamphlets with different takes on spirituality? Do they realize they need to take a number and get in line if they want to get through to me?

I'm a middle aged adult. I've had decades to figure out what I believe and don't believe. Their sudden sense of urgency is not shared by me.
