Trump is upset he may miss his son's graduation because he's on trial.

Yeah, we do treat people in the criminal justice system harshly. People you have never thought about, people who have kids, and graduations, and moments missed forever.

But it's different now. He cries. It's happening to ME. To Me!

Nothing, no one, exists beyond the tip of some people's noses. They cannot see pain unless they feel it. Cannot recognize suffering unless it's their own.

What a stunted perspective.

Keep in mind too that Chump has claimed he will jail his political opponents. So he wants to do to them, what he has done to himself by his own criminal actions... I have zero compassion for his "plight"

Courts should have more compassion. But it would disgust me if we see compassion here even as other parents get no extra chances, no consideration for their lives.

It's important for the integrity of the justice system, what little it has left, that they don't widen that gap by giving in to this whimpering and whining.

(And tear off the band aid and find him in contempt already. The reaction will be bad but that's coming anyways. He's just another man. Every exception weakens justice.)

I know people who have missed graduations, hard earned important graduations because they couldn't get a doctor's appointment moved, or needed to meet with a social worker or risk losing benefits for a handicapped child. The uncaring inflexibility of corporate and state bureaucracy has no time for the poor.

No second chances.

Soak it all in, buddy.

@futurebird OK, Donald, now imagine it's someone wrongfully accused.

@Badger_AF

There is no water in a stone and no imagination in that man.

@futurebird Isn't this the man who persisted in saying the Central Park five should have been imprisoned, even after they were exonerated?

futurebird,
@futurebird@sauropods.win avatar

@Dtraslerwriting

He's never apologized. I mean. That isn't surprising he just doesn't do that ever (great personality trait for leadership!)

But still. Everyone knows it was wrong. But like the damn election he has his own reality based on feelings.

Dtraslerwriting,
@Dtraslerwriting@mastodon.social avatar

@futurebird This is what baffles me about him even getting the nomination the first time around. He never made a secret of who or what he is. Everyone knew, and yet, they elected him...

@Dtraslerwriting

There are people who are unable to cope with everyone who lives in this country having an equal say in what we do. Now that young people are much more left leaning, much more diverse, much more gay, they know that they can't impose their way of life, or maintain the systems they find lucrative and enjoyable (cheap immigrant labor, cheap working class labor, deregulated business environment, low taxes for the wealthy, obedient wives and fearful children) through democracy.

@futurebird@sauropods.win avatar

@Dtraslerwriting

I think some of them are glad Trump is willing to be the head of this project since they have enough residual respect for those once shared American values (I will respect your right to lead because you won the election, even though I don't like your ideas) to find doing the dirty work themselves.

Trump doesn't even realize he's doing dirty work.

We all know what this is. And we either reject it or the remarkable things about the US are over.

@futurebird This might be bad/petty of me, but I feel like he would not even be going to that graduation if it wasn't a political upside for whatever reason.

@Oggie @futurebird

You don't have to wonder, he's never gone to any other of his children's graduations.

@futurebird

No, he is upset that this excuse won't allow him to delay the trial further.

When has he ever given a shit about family members other than when they were useful to him somehow?

TerpieCat,
@TerpieCat@ohai.social avatar

@juergen_hubert @futurebird Exactly. He didn't bother going to any of his other kids' graduations. No one believes he really intended to go to Barron's. It's just another excuse to delay the trial and gain sympathy from his brain-dead supporters.

juergen_hubert,
@juergen_hubert@thefolklore.cafe avatar

@TerpieCat @futurebird His supporters don't actually care about the hypocrisy.

They just very strongly feel that Trump should get away with everything, since that's what they would like to do if they were powerful.
