mindbleach, in Britain's Rishi Sunak apologizes for leaving D-Day event early to return to campaigning

Rishi, buddy, if you don’t want to be PM anymore, you can just resign. We’re sure you have a foreign beach picked out already.

gravitas_deficiency, in Britain's Rishi Sunak apologizes for leaving D-Day event early to return to campaigning

It absolutely doesn’t surprise me, but it is kinda funny to see him shoot himself in the foot like that. This was easy to not fuck up, but he managed to fuck it up.

Tbh you see similar stupidity coming from a variety of right-wing leaders all over the world. It’s like they just can’t keep their foot out of their mouth, so try and shove a whole leg in for good measure.

Paragone, in Starvation already causing many deaths and lasting harm in Gaza, agencies say

Malnutrition creates life-long damage/harm when it harms growing children.

It doesn’t require outright-starvation to damage an entire-population’s viability.

No matter: evil does what evil does, & when it claims that “the bible” justifies it, well, that’s just icing on the cake, isn’t it?

We can see the “Christians” in the US & Islamist “Muslims” proving the same principle, can’t we?

And the “Buddhists” who genocided Tamils, & “Hindus” who butcher whomever they’re ideologically-intolerant-of at the time…

There is no “religion” which is the cause of this: it is caused by our animal-ignorance mind, which the Abrahamic religion called “behemoth”, usually translated as “the beast”.

You can even see the book of Isaiah railing against such things.

Human-nature won’t change until most of our kind are extinguished, right?

Some other species might have had an instant-and-violent-reaction against doing what Russia & Israel are doing…

Our accommodating of it … insults God/Life, doesn’t it?

Squeezer, in Cyber attack on London hospitals declared critical incident

How can you be so bent out of shape as a human to think that fucking over kids at the Evelina is the way to spend your day, to make your daily bread.

Shardikprime, in Milei meets Google and Apple CEOs, sparks controversy at Stanford - Buenos Aires Herald

The “controversy” they talk about is when He is talking about market failures and brings up the “externalities” that are the side effects (which can be negative or positive, but when talking about a market failure you are talking only about the negative) that occur when producing or consuming.

A well-known example for externalities is pollution: I am a company, I produce, but I “externalize” the expenses associated with my production by throwing waste into the environment (something we pay as a society when in reality the responsibility is private).

But that is an externality in production.

He speaks of an externality in consumption that would be when the side effect arises from the fact of consuming.

Now those are similar, but for consumption.

For example, the case of the pandemic in the USA when the people were going to the supermarkets to stock up on toilet paper, leaving them empty. The negative externality of consumption there is that there are people who couldn’t wash their butts

I hope that makes sense

In this case, bringing it to the example of toilet paper, the guy is saying something like that, eventually, people are going to stink so much that they are going to look for an alternative to toilet paper. Therefore, proving that the market did not fail because it was actually part of the market discovery process.

Now, it is one thing to think that he is wrong and another different thing to not understand what he’s referring to.

And whatever the case, it is true that cutting the context is quite hypocritical and biased because it is talking about a hypothetical situation where he counterargues using absurdity.

That is, regardless of what you may think about what he said or whatever his argument exactly is, it is certain that he is not referring to what we all understood when we read the subtitle of the news.

I vividly recall an article with this exact info more than a month ago. Probably a lot more. Strange how everyone is now quotes an NYT story that released today but basically says the same.

Edit: I think this was it. March 2024 - Israeli Influence Operation Targets U.S. Lawmakers on Hamas-UNRWA

This Verge/NYT article is leaving out the critical UNRWA = Hamas propaganda being spread by those israeli bots. Unless this is referring to a different occurence.

givesomefucks, in Israel reportedly used fake social media accounts to influence US lawmakers

A secret social media influence campaign that attempted to lobby US lawmakers to support Israel’s war on Gaza was organized and funded by the Israeli government, The New York Times reports.

According to the Times, Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs earmarked around $2 million for the campaign, which used hundreds of fake accounts impersonating made up people to target US lawmakers. The accounts posed as Americans and posted pro-Israel messages, calling on members of congress to fund Israeli military operations. The campaigns used OpenAI’s ChatGPT to produce the posts and targeted several Black Democrats, like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

If we wait a couple days, Hakeem Jeffries will explain to us while this organization lobbying on behalf of a foreign government doesn’t need to register as an actor of a foreign government…

He just has to finish counting all the money he got from Israel last cycle (more than any other US politicians btw)

It’s bad when republicans do it.

It’s bad when Dems do it.

We need at least one party to have standards or we’re all fucked.
