markmccaughrean,

@doddington That will be for someone else to decide. I’m afraid that he has outgrown us & our limited electrical repair capabilities, but we can but hope that there are some more expert people in his future 😬✌️

The Aerobic Digest 13 is out!

https://72.peteashton.com/the-aerobic-digest-13/

In this issue of my newsletter, a big move of the heaps into the shade begins, and a curious piece of plastic is found.

@pete Thank you for sharing this Pete it is always a very interesting read.

ai6yr,

Recycling tip: It looks like the primary collector of old eyeglasses in my are is the Lions Club. They have eyeglass donation boxes around the city. https://e-clubhouse.org/sites/conejo_valley/page-6.php

PDX_Roald,

@sysop408 @ai6yr

last 3 years*.

We collect them, sort out the scratched/broken/missing-a-piece eyeglasses, and recycle the parts if we can.

The good eyeglasses are washed and dried, and the lens strength is measured on a lensometer. The eyeglasses are labeled and sorted into boxes for distribution.

The sorting and cleaning is all done by volunteers: Lions & family members, medical students, sorority members, retirees, etc.

Next, optometrists and technicians volunteer for eye clinics

If you plant a tree every day, in a lifetime you will plant a forest.

Our habits make us, is a very rewarding habit, if you do it every day, in a matter of years you will be able to fix your topsoil, plants, and create abundance.

You will also do your part in putting the carbon back into the and help balance the .

Change always starts with us.

@compost

I don't have a lot of space, but I've planted 2, plus am tending 2 others who went ahead & planted themselves. 😀 It's their world, after all. I am simply their minion. 🤣 I also have a bush who thinks they're a tree.

ATLeagle,
@ATLeagle@mastodon.online avatar

@compost I'm so proud of this little guy. Most of the good trees have been cut for construction, and the large hardwoods are a scary thin line. Maybe I can slowly stretch this into a forest that doesn't look like it will tip over

Does anyone have experience with processing?
We're weighing the pros and cons of digestion and typical turn-heavy aerobic . Also thinking about a combination of the two but going from anaerobic to aerobic processing could create more labor.

If I had to implement such a system, I would search for solutions that involve composting worms.

Challenge: How do I eat a whole pineapple in two days? 🍍 😋
Pure luxury from the Zero Waste Box: a pineapple, lots of grapes and tens of mandarins. It's hard to believe that #supermarkets used to throw this away (which is now banned in France). A #ZeroWaste box in our #supermarket costs 3 EUR for 2 kg of "ugly" or overripe vegetables/fruits. The very ripe pineapple smells delicious!

@NatureMC
Toast Hawaii is also a classic and delicious way to eat Pineapple.

Or make a Pico de Gallo with it. That`s amazing as a side with Chili con/sin Carne or Tacos.

@goblin thanks for the tips, Toast Hawaii was the dinner in the restaurants of my childhood.

anyone know anything about the material that Antistatic bags are made from? I have read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antistatic_bag but want to know more. I am curious if there is anything in the way of it into a 3d printing filament?

grindhold,
@grindhold@23.social avatar

@liaizon i am pretty sure it's regular plastic with a thin coating of metal that has been applied via vaporization or sputtering. at least the shiny ones.

liaizon,
@liaizon@wake.st avatar

@grindhold so you think it would be ok to melt down and make into filament? we have an insane amount of it always coming in at MNT where I am working and I want to do something useful with it
