I'll be periodically Wonder Trading away a collection of Shiny competitive ready Pokémon on the generation 6 and 7 games for the Nintendo 3DS. The online services for the system are going to be shut down on April 8th, so there's no time like the present!
If you're looking for anything specific, I might be able to hook you up. Long live the 3DS!
Made a rambly 30+ minute video with shaky webcam footage documenting my final moments of 3DS online tonight.
It's currently published on YouTube, trying to setup a PeerTube account so maybe I can post more stuff like this on the fediverse in the future. I'll link that in a reply if and when it happens.
After the "Castlevania" areas of the Fiendlord's castle in Chrono Trigger (https://mastodon.social/@GamesMissed/111304490109151554), I've had it in my head to play an actual Castlevania game. I haven't played Circle of the Moon since it came out over 20 years ago, so it seemed a good place to start again.
I own a #GameBoyAdvance (and an SP) but I'm playing it on my #3DS because a) I'm lazy, b) it has the largest, brightest screen of all my Nintendo portables, and c) why not? This is what #jailbreaking is for.
With the #3DS online services being shut down in April 2024, are there any can't-miss online gaming experiences to be had on the platform? It's a shame that this is happening, but at the same time most of my experience with the handheld has been in single player or local multiplayer games.
Outside of trading and battling Pokémon, I'm genuinely curious what (if anything) I would regret missing out on in the future.
SEVERAL good looking things coming to (and already on) Switch that Nintendo showed in their Direct yesterday. Contra: Operation Galuga, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble, Another Crab's Treasure, Penny's Big Breakaway, and most importantly (for me), POCKET CARD JOCKEY is NOW on Switch in the form of Ride On! 🤯 (See the 2nd link below for the full Direct with all the games.)
I LOVE PCJ on 3DS. My friend on Twitter got me hooked on it. So cool that more people will get to play this new Switch version since the 3DS store shut down and you can't grab that one anymore. It's a super weird concept, you play solitaire to race horses. It's addictive and amazing.
I recently played Quest of Dungeons on the 3DS for a while. I kept coming back, but am not entirely convinced. It can be played fast paced which is very welcome. Probably the combat is where I would like to see more strategy or real time action.
I try to distribute my attention between Steam Deck, 3DS and Analogue Pocket. With this though, I was wondering why I don't fire up Hades or Transistor instead.
I decided to challenge myself and only play my 3DS for 30 days.
So today I gave Resident Evil Mercenaries 3D a first and last try. While the game is decent fun, it's way too intense for me thanks to the time limits. Still, it's very impressive what they managed to cram in here, even if animations frames at 5 meters get super choppy so the framerate overall is able to keep up.
For the last pink pieces which you can only get from StreetPass I used my modded 3DS. I’ve StreetPassed my other 3DS about 90 times 🙈 so it’s all legit.
I finished #DetectivePikachu for the #3DS.
It was fun without being really engaging. The story was interesting enough to keep me going, even though I practically knew who the bad guy was around the half-way point. The grand finale also wasn't that much of a surprise, because the location and event are telegraphed very early on and fit the M.O. of previous incidents. Or maybe I just became a better detective. 😅 #ShareYourGames
After watching Dan Floyd playing #ChronoTrigger on #PlayFrame recently, I of course feel like abandoning what I'm already playing and distracting myself with that instead.
Well, I think I can save it for summer, but I was curious enough to start it up and check on my old #NintendoDS#NDS saves on my modded #3DS.
Aside from the one finished "regular ending" save, apparently I had two barely played NG+ saves where I went with a #DoctorWho theme for the character names.
Batsugun and Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection on Switch as well as Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minna de Mini-Land on 3DS, which is the Japanese title for Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars.
This one was digital only in the US and Europe and got a code in a box release in Europe, but no cart.
