A Paris, cattle farmer is concerned about coexisting with a proposed 400-unit subdivision. The farmland, bordered on three sides by the Grand River, has been a family farm since 1852.

More farmland gone: this farmer will likely be forced to sell - especially once the new homeowners start complaining about "the bad smell"

@CanadianCrone.
The recently appointed chair to the Land Tribunal is Michael Kraljevic.
He & Premier Ford are long-time buddies & even played on the same Etobicoke high school football team together.
Kraljevic is now set to earn a cool taxpayer funded $1,019,875 as chair of the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Previously, Kraljevic was CEO of Toronto Port Lands Company, which owns & manages more than 400 acres of waterfront land.

Premier Ford may look contrite & promise he's reversing the lands, but note he's not reversing his biggest gift to developers - - which offloads infrastructure costs onto municipalities.

For example, is projecting a loss of $227 million in development charges as a result of the govt's legislation passed last year.

👉 Guelph taxpayers now have pay 35% more in property tax between now and 2027.

gemelliz,
@gemelliz@mstdn.ca avatar

Premier Ford's also gave the province power to make changes to the long-term development plans for (and any municipality in Ontario)
Included in those changes is raising the height of buildings built in most parts of the Guelph downtown core to 23 storeys high.

a leaked letter from MPP Paul Calandra suggests that Premier and various Cabinet ministers have doubled down to make the mayors of "lower-tier municipalities" accomplices to the by having them rubber-stamp the Conservative government’s forced farm, forest and wetland eating boundary expansions.

“There is simply no non-corrupt way to justify further extension of settlement boundaries"

In the midst of the , a reminder that taxpayers will now pay for roads, community centres, transit, sewers etc. because of Premier Ford's Bill 23.

i.e. The Ford govt legislation will cost Hamiltonian's $14 to $25 million a year & York Region tax payers upwards of $34.9 million a year, costs that were previously carried by the developers.

Not only did 's developer buddies snag land at a profit, his eliminates infrastructure costs = even higher profits.

Bill 23, Premier Ford's controversial housing legislation, opened the door for the by weakening conservation authorities, removing environmental protection, weakening the OMB, adding “strong mayor” legislation & increasing the financial burden on taxpayers for local infrastructure.

is a beast. It's complex, powerful legislation that will change even if the premier "returns" the Greenbelt lands.

BREAKING: Global News has obtained the 2018 mandate letters Premier Doug Ford gave his cabinet ministers.

The main letter demands high ethical standards among cabinet ministers, with a promise the premier would hold them “personally” accountable.

Apparently, there is more to come over the next few days,
So far, the overarching mandate instructions appear generic.
The individual ministry mandates have yet to be released.
The billion dollar question : why did waste millions of dollars fighting in court to keep the ministry mandates hidden.

To be fair, both Ford & Clark need to resign, however:

It wasn't Steve Clark's daughter's wedding.

It isn't Steve Clark's government.

If anyone should resign, it's "

And Premier Ford's press secretary, Caitlin Clark (yup) might want to start looking for another gig.

At a press conference today to explain away his $8 B.I.L.L.I.O.N swindle, Premier was asked how it’s possible he knew "absolutely nothing at all" about the protected lands scooped up by his developer friends.

"I don’t believe in micromanaging, I believe in delegating.” he said.
