local friends, if you could help spread the word fast and often that bookfest has been moved from saturday to sunday this weekend, i would much appreciate it. same place and time, different day.
KW friends! Bookfest is back and happening this Saturday! Come find your next summer read from dozens of local authors with books across genres, including fiction and non-fiction with offerings for children, teens and adults! There's something for everyone.
it seems that local technical #meetups are on life support in many cities. the news about #womenwhocode really set me back this week knowing the impact they have had on many women in the industry.
i would love to hear some positive news about groups that meet regularly that are thriving. link me!
The #Kitchener#Waterloo Linux Users Group @kwlug is still going strong. Although they're looking for folks to make presentations on #FreeSoftware and related things. Remote presentations are welcome, one of the few good things to come out of the pandemic.
Must be coming up on the #KWLUG 25th anniversary soon, too!
I am looking for an errand buddy in #guelph
I don't have enough cog to both drive myself somewhere and do anything once I get there. So looking for someone to do errands with. Either with your own car, or if you have a a driver's license and executive function we can use mine.
Hoping to build some new friendships and a mutually supportive network in my new home town.
Pls boost if you have connections in the area. Danka! #kitchenerWaterloo#kw#kitchener#waterloo

@cs Canada has different rules for #LPFM#CommunityRadio and #CampusRadio. Starting in 1974 we got Canada's first Community Radio FM station, CKWR, right here in @waterlooregion, followed by Campus Radio FM: CKCU at Carleton Uni in 1975, then CFMU at #McMaster Uni in 1977, then CKMS at #Waterloo Uni in 1978. All were initially restricted to 50W or 100W, but are now 250W to 1000W. Waterloo is particularly rich in Community Radio, there's also CJIQ at #ConestogaCollege, and #MidtownRadio online.
We ran through the woods of the #Harestanes estate and up to the #Waterloo memorial. Road and tracks, 18k.
On the way back along the #Teviot the weekly litter collection - including a very large water bottle. Luckily plastic not glass… the #recycling bin is full from the last 10 days.
Lovely roads, great countryside and people insist on throwing their #rubbish from their cars! 🤬🫣
We need an end to road traffic violence in Waterloo Region! This will be a great opportunity to meet as a community and talk about how to make that happen! Please come out if you're able to!
Waterloo Ion LRT ridership continues to expand, but insufficient operations funding means vehicles must be moved from evening to daytime to handle ridership demand within budget.
Instead of increasing service to attract riders at all times, service after 8pm will be cut to every 30 minutes.
