The Linux Users Group @kwlug is still going strong. Although they're looking for folks to make presentations on and related things. Remote presentations are welcome, one of the few good things to come out of the pandemic.

Must be coming up on the 25th anniversary soon, too!

Have you added your rent to the Ontario Rental Registry yet?

It's anonymous, easy and quick. Take one minute to register your rent at rentalregistry.ca in support of affordable housing:

https://rentalregistry.ca/

You can also browse rental rates in your area by viewing the rental registry map: https://rentalregistry.ca/en/on/map/

One day hopefully the government will be the one holding landlords more accountable.

Does your town have a community LP broadcaster?

bobjonkman, (edited )
@bobjonkman@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@cs Canada has different rules for and . Starting in 1974 we got Canada's first Community Radio FM station, CKWR, right here in @waterlooregion, followed by Campus Radio FM: CKCU at Carleton Uni in 1975, then CFMU at Uni in 1977, then CKMS at Uni in 1978. All were initially restricted to 50W or 100W, but are now 250W to 1000W. Waterloo is particularly rich in Community Radio, there's also CJIQ at , and online.

Morning run (and litter)

We ran through the woods of the estate and up to the memorial. Road and tracks, 18k.

On the way back along the the weekly litter collection - including a very large water bottle. Luckily plastic not glass… the bin is full from the last 10 days.

Lovely roads, great countryside and people insist on throwing their from their cars! 🤬🫣

Waterloo Ion LRT ridership continues to expand, but insufficient operations funding means vehicles must be moved from evening to daytime to handle ridership demand within budget.

Instead of increasing service to attract riders at all times, service after 8pm will be cut to every 30 minutes.
