Chapin was a public health doctor. He wrote a book in 1910 called "The Sources and Modes of Infection".
He lived at a time when we had just learned germs did not spontaneously generate from filth, but instead lived inside us, and spread from us, often asymptomatically
Unfortunately he guessed that the reason most infections were seen in people who had been close to infected people was because of the "droplets"
Time for some fast reading. I knew from Judy Stone's piece in Forbes that CDC was going to post the draft guidelines being discussed today on the morning of the meeting, but I didn't realize just how many pages of documents there would be - 330.
Finally got around to starting in on the old measles articles. These are the ones that purportedly demonstrate that measles is "magic" and "airborne" whereas very little else is.
So, one infected child in a doctor's waiting room infected 7 others. The rate in unvaccinated kids very high.
Why we will never have a sterilizing vaccine to coronavirus, so stop dreaming about it and put on a respirator.

I can't see half of the thread because AL (Andrew Lilico) blocked me, so I'm pulling this out here to say this very clearly:
There was never any hope that there would be any herd immunity to this virus.
Not from day one.
Not now.
Not until there is a sterilizing vaccine to it.
The 1974 article alone told me no permanent immunity, reinfection possible, kids catch and bring home, schools spread, etc.
But we had morons and talking heads downplaying and getting everything wrong while they hired agents and secured themselves TV interviews to boost their own personal fame.
For all the fear and hatred supporters of the U.S. Dems have for the G.O.P., they don't seem too fussed that BOTH the Dems and the Republicans are happily lying that the pandemic is over. #CovidIsNotOver#covid#COVIDisAirborne#uspolitics
The medical community not wearing masks is not safe, not intelligent enough to actually effectively care for you, cannot be trusted ethically in the charge of your care, and should be written off as reckless vectors of disease, chronic illness, and death at every level from EMT to MD/DO.
From the CDC to your general practitioner.
My doctor resigned in protest of unsafe working conditions, and his replacement is an unmasked clown.
I had the weirdest interaction today. I went into a store and an older guy says to me, "I guess we're back to wearing masks again, hey?" to which I responded, "I guess. I never stopped. I haven't been sick in almost 4 years."
We then had a really candid conversation about COVID with absolutely no animosity while the cashier and another customer listened to our conversation. He asked where I got my information and I said peer-reviewed studies and we talked about N95s and airborne transmission. I don't think I converted anyone but, for the first time, I felt 100% confident and like I had control of the situation.
What I found really weird, though, was the reactions of the two others present. They were both SO uncomfortable. The other customer briefly mentioned that COVID was the worst illness they ever had before scurrying out of the store like they were terrified of the conversation and the cashier pushed their chair back as far away as they could. This was AFTER I made it clear I haven't been sick since February, 2020, so it's not like it was getting sick they were freaked out by. This was, like, cornered animal levels of fear.
Surprised nobody has pointed out if you find it all over surfaces that means it's even MORE LIKELY YOU CAUGHT IT IN THE AIR ahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
So, people are still afraid of covid. Just not enough to overcome the peer pressure and/or denial and wear a mask.
I had to get my car emissions tested, and figured I would call ahead to see how accommodating they would be, and ask if I could stay outside. The receptionist misunderstood and thought I was saying that I have covid. Someone else (store manager maybe?) took the phone, and nicely told me to call when I arrive. This person met me outside and brought my car in for me.
Well, the people in the garage must have been told that I had covid. They tested my car with it just outside of the garage, and returned it to me with all of the windows open.
They clearly knew that covid is to be feared, and tried to isolate themselves from the perceived risk of my car. But none of them were masked. I guess it’s ok to “other” a potentially sick stranger, but not to “other” themselves by wearing a mask?
Had a discussion with a friend on CDC isolation guidelines & how we’re fostering a culture of eugenics & forced infection. Their response? “More like we’re just finally going to stop paying people to sit at home.” This is someone who had been a kind & logical person. Husband had to bring in his car to the garage today. The guy started to hassle him about his mask. Husband recalled that when I brought my car to a different place, they had misunderstood me and thought I had Covid, so they kept their distance and worked on my "infected" car with all the windows down, and even did what they could with my car outside.
So he told them "well I'm doing this for you guys, I have some symptoms but I don't know what it is." Bingo. They shut up, kept their distance and quickly did what was needed.
Everyone is so fearful of Covid, but only a few are willing to actually protect themselves (and their customers or patients!) against it. They choose instead to live in denial and hassle others when they try to protect themselves. I don't get it.
It blows my mind that nobody is out there making elastomeric N95+ respirators that look less like industrial equipment and more like an accessory. Is the market really too small to make this work?!? I feel like the elastomeric options are so limited and many aren't available in Canada.
I have a Flo Mask but I find the fit can be finicky. It's fine if I'm not talking to people, but it felt sketchy in Costco today. I need a replacement as well because of a small nick on the inside of the gasket but everything out there looks so intense.
So far, the Envo Mask Pro looks to be the best, but it's soooo expensive to import it here. I have a Dentec NxMD that I painted but I don't trust the way the filters are attached. It feels way too easy to install them incorrectly.
I don't really care THAT much if it looks industrial, but I'd really like it if there was something out there that could look stylish.
