44100 Hz or 48000 Hz for #musicproduction?
Personally I usually go with 48000 Hz because it somehow feels more "natural" to me than 44100 Hz (as half of 96000 Hz or a quarter of 192000 Hz). Made my life easier a few times when I wanted to #compose#music for #movies too. #daw#linuxaudio
For any #Django + #Docker#Compose users out there, I was struggling for several days because template and code changes were only being picked up once per session and then cached to infinity.
I switched from #Orbstack back to vanilla Docker and that problem went away.
So I think they might have a bug or something else that's non-obvious. I checked and didn't see an issue logged yet.
I like Orbstack a lot, but what a frustrating bug to fight.
I have a screen where I want a lazy-loading card of various items below some necessary information, all of which will scroll down. My initial approach was to nest the lazycolumn under the card which is nested under a Column with a calculated nested height based on the size of the calls list. However, I can't do that, and neither...
I have a stupid #docker#compose question: If I want to have a service whose purpose is to start up and pre-stage for other services, and then go away… what’s the best way to do that?
I'll be honest, after years of using #Kotlin working with #Dart and #Flutter in the year 2023 feels reminiscent of how it was using Java 7 for Android development more than a decade ago.
@gryzor There are aspects of both the language and framework that can at times feel good to use.
The way that the asynchronous model of Dart is implemented is very simple to use, and cross platform development is a breeze in Flutter.
But everything else is just blown out of the water by the second mover advantage that #Compose has, in addition to having been built on top a much more powerful language such as #Kotlin.
Not to mention the robust ecosystem of tooling available in JVM land.
Just now saw the dreaded "how to migrate" post in the #reactnative docs now that I'm workin on some app updates...😑🫣
The "New Architecture" for #reactnative is on the verge becoming the new standard going forward. As someone who's already had to write the bridge and native code to implement awesome widget functionality in my #android app, the thought of having to rewrite it all using the new Turbo/Fabric modules is downright daunting af!!! 😭 :react: :android: #programming#nightmare
@RemeJuan I'm totally right there with you. It sucks cause I really love the various UI framework integrations and such, and it was an absolutely awesome way for me to initially get into #mobile#development a few years back...
At this point, I'm gonna finish the major UI overhaul that's already near completion, and just maintain it as far along as I can..I'll probably have to continue shifting to #compose like I had already started doing awhile back and go from there.. 😬 :androidalt:

Does anybody have any suggestions for an #opensource#selfhosted#kanban platform that is not based on #postgresql with a preference for #sqlite or something like that. Ideally, I want to be able to just launch one container and have it up and going. I am starting to reconsider if #Podman was really the right choice over #Docker for my #production instances, because otherwise I'd happily just be loading up #compose files. #programming#taskmanagement#trello

I took a dive into #Vitess today, the "secret sauce" from YouTube (and Planetscale) for crazy database scaling.
Honestly it does look really good, nicer than Galera, but they really need better documentation and examples for everyone that doesn't use Kubernetes. 😡
So for now I don't think I'm going to use it. That said, I think I will switch to Percona from MariaDB, to save myself the migration pain later.
With all that in mind, I'm leaning towards keeping things "simple" by just using #Docker#Compose, and making custom #Wolfi images where needed (PHP-FPM + APCu).
At least with Docker Compose, I can run the same script inside a Vagrant box for local testing. That's not to say I couldn't do that with everything (Nomad, Consul, Vitess), but it's a lot less work right now.
I'm still not sure where #HashiCorp#Packer fits into the picture, if it even does. 🤔
Last week @terjefjelde asked me about my #composing techniques, use of #musicTechnology, and thoughts about #musicProduction, and I promised to reply when I had more time. Here’s a too-long thread about this and other things that came to mind…
I’ve got nothing against #electronicMusic, but I respect how difficult it is to do well. When you #compose for a good #musician, you don’t just get back the right frequencies, durations, intensities and timbral spectra. They come connected, shaped, and imbued with centuries of oral tradition and thousands of hours of individual practice on the instrument.
