My only goal was to try to photograph the eclipse, so I brought a single lens, which limited the photos I could take.

Honestly, just did this for lack of a better object to practice my photography on.

High-ish resolution image of a US Quarter.

Some other designs in quarters are nicer, I just chose this one because the figures on the boat were pretty intricate.

La Carafe is not Houston's oldest bar, but it IS located in one of Houston's oldest buildings.

I did not take a photo of the place itself, but this is the view from the balcony.

Houston, "Grafiti Park"(?)

If you're looking for something to do in the city, 3rd Ward Tours has some pretty nice bike tours.

I love the immersive panoramas on visionOS. However, for this to be convincing you really need the photos to be high resolution. When I started printing large format panoramas for my walls, but still wanting to capture them on my iPhone, I had to learn how to maximize my pixels.

I capture 48MP frames and then merge them in Photoshop. The result is the equivalent of Retina vs Non-Retina when viewed on visionOS—or “That’s nice" vs “Oh, wow I'm on a mountain top"

Examples: https://www.david-smith.org/blog/2024/02/26/super-resolution-panoramas/

A screenshot showing the relative size of 1:1 section of a panorama with stacked version has roughly twice the pixels.
A photograph showing a large format panorama on mounted on the wall, the photograph shows Ben Nevis in Scotland.
A super high resolution panorama taken from Hellvelyn in the UK Lake District. It is brown and rocky with blue skies and sweeping views over to the far reaching fells.

When you go to Pompey you won't have time to see everything. Much less take it all in.

Taking photos helps more than my poor memory - they also give me material to work with.

What you get from the visit will likely be unimpressive, a couple of badly aligned images with other tourists phones in the shot.

With a bit of software magic you can generate a decent compound image.

Doing a finer "viewpoint correction" is still a challenge though - the best option I've found so far is using mobile "scanning" apps which produce final images like the ones here.

Not perfect, but they do let me get a better idea of what it would look like when seen directly from above.

A "viewpoint corrected" version of the mosaic showing what it would look like when seen directly head on, generated by using a "scanning" app.

Panorama rendu avec Hugin, en mode automatique.
ça ne se voit pas vraiment, mais il y a quelques défaut des pieds des arbres, au centre.

Je suis plutôt satisfait du rendu en mode automatique.

This is not one photo, but 360 photos stitched together.

Each photo covering an area of around half a millimeter square.

This is just a small branch of some moss I picked up looking for Tardigrades.

Nothing more serene but hugging your doggo or kitteh! I painted this tonight with watercolors mixed with white gouache to give it a thicker look. Prints are available on my profile's link.
