I got to thank community that helps to create maps in @openstreetmap and awesome app @organicmaps that uses them. I've got the best walks with my dog thanks to some hidden city paths. We have some amazing adventures together!

I'm looking for work related to my experience with , open-source geospatial, PostGIS, map design, or other areas of experience.

I've got experience across the map rendering stack, data analysis, REST APIs, vector tiles, and running systems at scale.

I'm looking for remote work (based in Vancouver).

Did nobody tell these folks that .org and its Foundation already exist? Guess it's been too resistant to corporate capture?

"The Overture Maps Foundation, as the new effort is called, is officially hosted by the Linux Foundation, but the program is driven by Amazon Web Services (AWS), Facebook’s parent company Meta, Microsoft and Dutch mapping company TomTom."

I'm an old school map user, remember paper maps? That's where I learned to read and my love looking at maps.

I'm not a Luddite, I love tech and being able to look at maps on my laptop or mobile. Is absolutely brilliant. Switch from satellite, to street view to map, thanks Google. Being able to add a new path, stile or road all by myself, thanks OpenStreetMap.

But for the love of Dog, please, please let me have North (always, Dog damnit) up. No matter how I tap, pinch to zoom, drag around.

Yes, I can go into settings and set it to be North up. But as soon as my fingers hit the screen, the map starts to spin about, when I try to zoom, drag, pinch, whatever it's called when I use a digital map.

I would be happy to have a setting that totally locks north up, that I have to untick to be able to get spin or that 3D view. Because I'll never use/need it. A true set and forget ;)

How did I miss this? now has overlays! 🗺️✨ The overlay for shops is really easy to use and works great to add those valuable POIs to 👏

I've just submitted my OSM/Wikidata linking talk to be considered for , the new annual Free Software conference being held in Portland, Oregon. I picked the 'wildcard' track because I'm not sure where it fits.

Yay another Embrace, Extend, Extinguish by our favourite friends

Today I learned that a new fantastic project is on its way to be launched. It reguards maps (and ) and it's called "Overture Maps".

They want to create new maps, mainly based on OSM databases, but unlinked from the community
