Why did they make it mandatory to activate the devkit every 3 days, it's really annoying, every 3 days I have to plug a separate network wire to activate PlayStation devkit
@maxim is being unethical and abusing locked-in clientelle really an adequate way of «protecting your product»? would taking your family hostage be acceptable too?
the problem with ethics is it's not defineable by law in all its details and nuances. corporations thus often ignore it, — but even worse, gradually they persuade (or train, in fact) you to accept their «ethics» as something inevitable.
the more i observe things like that (and people who accept this kind of «ethics»), the more respect i have for people like #rms and all those behind the foss movement.
Just to weigh in on the political discourse du jour... #RMS is a piece of shit, and even his free software ethics are problematic and incompatible with life under capitalism.
Ten pán v červeném je Richard Stallman. Je k nepoznání. O víkendu bude přednášet v Praze v rámci svého posledního přednaškového turné. Bohužel během něho také oznámil, že je vážně nemocný. #rms
The GNU Project turned 40 on Tuesday. Congratulations GNU!
In honour of the achievements of the multitude of talented people who have contributed to GNU over the last 40 years, I'm going to pull finger and teach mysefl how to install an updated mobile GNU OS on my PinePhone (props to the @PINE64 crew).
Props to the Chief GNUisance Dr Richard Stallman, founder of the GNU Project and the Free Software Foundation, and creator of the philosophical scaffolding of software freedoms and copyleft.
Without his work, we wouldn't even have this decentralised space - powered 100% by Free Code (so far) - to argue about whether he deserves props. Arguably the net as we know it could not exist.
I wonder how many people have heard Richard Stallman's take on Snaps and Flatpaks where he has no idea what they are or how they work yet still thinks they're bad
@BrodieOnLinux@nergal@AmyIsCoolz I think his main concern is valid about both #Flatpak and #Snap packages as currently distributed. The software are self-packaged by the developers, contrary to the distributions, where each distro decides what to package and how. Even Arch Linux, that says they just package stuff "as is", make some patches to stuff in their repos, and remove dubious stuff (or not even include in the first place).
It's such a shame when cool projects are maintained by bigots.
I wanted to give Hyprland a try, since I love the (technical) direction it's going. Sadly, the maintainers are transphobic and will treat you like garbage if you are a trans person. @orowith2os, a great friend of mine, shared some screenshots about the bigotry on the Discord server that made me reconsider my decision.
