Finished this evening. What can I say? It was enjoyable for sure, lots of fun sci fi action (although a little too heavy on the slow motion scenes), but.. okay. Okay, here goes: opening scene = vaginal wormhole opens and schlong-shaped ship slowly oozes out of it (reminded me of Peter Griffin’s long-nosed red car, if you saw that episode). And then, Bilbo’s eleventy-first birthday party, then Star Wars, Blade Runner, Star Trek, a little Expanse, Shelob from Hobbit makes an appearance, Darth Maul dual red lightsabers, little bit of Gladiator, the fucking cantina scene from SW, Star Blazers and the Yamato, Nazi Germany, and one woman was even wearing the V for Vendetta tall black Guy Fawkes stove pipe hat. Wife and I were calling out the names through the whole show. Bladerunner! Hobbit! Darth Maul!

Recommended, but it’s like pouring every single type of soda from a 7-11 dispensing machine into a single slurper cup.

Tried to watch Rebel Moon last night but the extreme violence of an oppressive government and military over defenseless people was too hard to watch. I’ve been watching this happen for nearly 90 days in real life. I do not need it as a form of entertainment.

Mooie beelden, gave special effects.

Zack Snyder's"Rebel Moon" is an obviously terrible movie which I will never watch, but I'm really coming to appreciate its existence ... not for itself, but for the delightful terse reactions it's inspiring across my feeds:

"Like Star Wars was directed by a pair of Oakley sunglasses."

"Star Wars, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Firefly all smashed together. It was like when you mix all the soda flavors together."

"It feels like watching 350 little tik tok vignettes in a row."

"Don't call it a train-wreck. A train-wreck has a beginning, middle, and end."

"You don't have to think about it at all hard to think about it too hard."

"When the girl in the village of Amish Vikings smelled the soil in slo-mo, I just turned it off."

"Imagine Jupiter Ascending but if it were made by TEMU."

"The Light Saber of Shannara."

Watching Rebel Moon.

An hour in and my biggest issue with it so far? Character development appears to be delivered entirely through exposition.

The entire point of a movie is to develop the characters and tell a story they'd the movie. Exposition is lazy and boring.

Just finished watching and it's hard to express just how bad it is. The thinnest veneer of Star Wars and Warhammer 40K, wrapped around 100 unoriginal ideas and platitudes, then stuffed to bursting with a super-sized serving of mediocre slow motion fight scenes.

Fisher, Coleman y Nair 🤩🤯

A nosotros nos ha entretenido.

Started watching , put it off after .. 10 minutes?

That movie manages to really capture the D-movie atmosphere... acting is extremely stiff, dialogues are forced...

Actually on second and third thoughts, Rebel Moon is like if someone super-glued tropes and themes from Lord of the Rings onto a Star Wars picture book. I'm probably going to be picking this apart in my own special way for about a week or two.

So I watched man.... It was bad. I really wanted to like it, I did.

Snyder is a good director. And the movie had some cool scenes and shots. But man, they gotta stop letting this dude write movies.

story seemed rushed and thrown together. Some stuff seemed over the top just cuz he can. Which is kinda 🤷🏻

don't get me started on the acting. The MC was so boring and it felt like she was just reading lines. Sigh, it was horrible. I'll wait till 2nd part before I dismiss it completely

MarioTorre, to random

had great potential, the story started on the right track but then didn’t really develop, characters that were interesting either just disappeared or had barely a minute of showtime, and the ending feels rushed, convenient and way too scripted. I also didn’t like the abuse of slow motion for the fight choreographies. What an unfortunate missed opportunity.

One hour in to and…. it feels like a high school script with a big budget and average special effects / CGI.

Maybe it’s just me?

The seven space samurai are fighting the space Nazis in spaaaaaace!

It's worth watching for the super real android in the first act. If it was full CG then... wow! But even if it was a practical suit and they replaced the actor's neck with CG bolts and pistons it looks amazing (the robot from Lost In Space was done that way).

Story-wise it goes downhill from there. It's a mix of 300, Dune, Warhammer... an All-You-Can-Eat buffet of visuals and characters.

Man findet kaum Worte dafür.
