Today I finally got my hands on a Big Muff pedal so that I can ape the Siamese Dream sound. Hopefully it can make up for the pain of the past few days. 💿23/10/1995, les #SmashingPumpkins sortaient leur troisième album studio « Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness » avec « Bullet with Butterfly Wings », « 1979 », « Tonight, Tonight », « Zero » et « Thirty-Three ».
It blows my mind that this album was released over 30 years ago. Yet the lyrics to Youth Against Fascism show us that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
"Yeah, the president sucks
He's a war pig fuck
His shit is out of luck
It's the song I hate
It's the song I hate
Another Nazi attack
A skinhead is cracked
My blood is black"
In all honesty I like the original versions better. But the lyrics do stand out more in these covers. Eg Cherub Rock:

I had already been a big teenage #SmashingPumpkins fan for a few years by the time this album came out... saw them open for RHCP in winter '91 (with Pearl Jam, also still largely unknown) , then got heavily into Gish, Lull, etc... (2/x)
