A good read on a local community group working hard to keep their waterways clear of sewage, and attempting to protect the future of the Water of Leith’s basins.
Sadly this was the only photo I got - it was getting dark, & the wee bugger was too fast (and mostly underwater!). But what a wonderful thing to see. I had heard there was sometimes one along this stretch, but never been lucky enough to be in the right place and time to see her.
Having our first “community organization” meeting with Scottish Water this afternoon to see how their projects on upgrading the Water of Leith CSOs goes.
Only taken 4 months, and we have many questions, and are looking forward to hearing about timelines and plans so that we citizens can hold our water company accountable.
Attending my first Edinburgh City Council meeting this morning.
As a resident of The Shore, with a keen interest in the environment around us, going in support of & interested in hearing the debate on motion 8.4 by Councillor Caldwell - Sewage in Edinburgh's Waterways.
Really happy with the unanimous passing of the motion today by the councillors.
Thanks to @JackRMCaldwell (If he is still using Mastodon!) for bringing this motion forward today, and the other councillors who weighed in with their thoughts and amendments.
The fight continues though! Watch this space!
Extra motivated to get out for some litter picking soon. 😉
