"The truth is that when Republicans win, the mainstream press feels the need to move to the right because they’re out of touch, and when Democrats win, the mainstream press feels the need to move to the right because it’s only a matter of time before Republicans win again. The answer to the millionaires and billionaires making these decisions is always to find an excuse to shift to the right." --Parker Malloy

It's weird not being a "TV person"...

Like, I get that it's bad that NBC hired Ronna McDaniel... bad for "TV people", anyway. People who, like, actually watch TV. People who actually take TV news seriously.

I'll never understand watching commercial or cable TV. Especially TV "news". I'm 51 and never had cable. Not even as a kid (we had an antenna with terrible reception).

How is it still relevant? Why are people still watching commercial TV in this age of commercial-free streaming?

I'll never understand sitting through 5 minutes of commercials to watch 2 minutes of lying narcissists talk over each other on the boob-tube.

Just read the news. It's the same news, minus all the fake "personality" used to appeal to people's emotional responses through propaganda techniques that work best in an entirely passive medium like TV.

Reading is an activity. TV is not.

Cable news is effectively unwatchable due to a just ridiculous number of ads. I’ll watch clips on YouTube instead

‘I’m OK, but Things Are Terrible’

(um…, yeah, that pretty much sums it up)

from Paul Krugman

…Poll after poll shows Americans rating conditions as very bad & giving very low approval for his economic management.

The strange thing is that these bad ratings are persisting even as the , by any normal measure, has been doing extremely well.

There’s substantial that people don’t feel that they personally are doing badly. Both surveys & behavior suggest, on the contrary, that while most Americans feel that they’re doing OK, they believe that the is doing badly, where “the economy” presumably means other people.

(Which means whether “”, , or platforms, the particularly on the right is mis/disinforming people)

Idle Thought: Both Fox News and MSNBC want you to be afraid. Be very afraid.

Why? Million are at stake. No, not lives, dollars. Trump is the greatest thing to happen to cable news since the last Gulf War.

So when you're watching your favorite talking head on your favorite channel, remember that.

MY COMMENT

David....CNN disgraced themselves with that recent trump cheer leading rally. CNN has such a great reputation and history.
too bad it can be ruined so easily.

Chris Licht is a moron. The CNN CEO believed he could court the MAGA crowd without losing the left. Instead, the network now finds itself hemorrhaging viewers and in the ratings basement behind Newsmax. Fire him.

The problem with “…faking authenticity” and how fell into the trap of letting their audience shape the tone and content of their news coverage. A mistake that has already cost them almost $800 million with more lawsuits to come. Rupert Murdoch and his family have been a dangerous influence in every country where they’ve owned media outlets; including Australia, the UK and the USA. Their ‘cater to the populist crazies’ at the expense of facts and the truth approach has sullied proper professional journalism, divided three countries, sowed division and hatred, all while making tons of profit and laughing all the way to the bank. Disgusting and reprehensible. https://theconversation.com/tucker-carlsons-departure-and-fox-news-expensive-legal-woes-show-the-problem-with-faking-authenticity-203649
