We hit a coin show in Sunnyvale today and made a few finds. Better yet, we met some great people and got a few pointers to collector groups that my son will check out and maybe find some great community!
One of my Xmas pressies: 😊
ALL 50 🇺🇸 State Quarters
(+6 district/territories) 🪙
I started collecting these several years ago, but covid cancelled my Vegas (+subsequent) US trips where I'd hoped to complete these "organically". Thankfully, eBay helped me fill in the (many) blanks.
I don't do much #CoinCollecting, but this was a bucket list for me from my first trip! ✅
I wonder how many arcade games were played with these bad boys... 🤔👾🤓
I mentioned my 1840s half dime earlier in a conversation with someone, I think @Rasta while talking about family antiques. I got in my safe and dug it out this evening. I haven't looked at it since my mom's passing years ago. This was found on my grandma's property in the 1980s. It's got some damage from the plow, shovel or both.
This coin was minted circa 206 CE, during the reign of Caracalla. The obverse depicts the laureate head of Caracalla facing right. The reverse type features #Mars, naked save for cloak hanging from his shoulder, holding a branch and spear.
@apps I post photos and interesting snippets about coins, tokens, medals - numismatics in general! Here are three from the last week: a #token featuring a super cute kitten, a #medallion of Saint Eligius, patron saint of #numismatics, and a 1723 Liard #coin from the French Dutchy of Lorraine, the Duke of which laid claim to being heir of the medieval kingdom of Jerusalem. #CoinCollecting
