The aptly named Pedra Branca (White Stone) dolmen (anta) is a late Neolithic tomb in Setúbal district near Melides, Portugal. Beautifully preserved in a gorgeous setting!

This beautiful chapel in the centre of the town of Pavia in Portugal's Alentejo region dates back six thousand years! It became a Christian chapel (to Saint Dinis) on the 17th century but it was originally a prehistoric "anta" or dolmen.

The camera peeking inside a dolmen. There are many of these huge structures in the East of The Netherlands. Very impressive.

Little explorers, entering the darkness of the Dolmen de Menga, Antequera, 3750–3650 BC.

On the way out, they face towards Lovers' Rock, and the small cave now known as Goat Butcher's Shelter, with its cave paintings from an earlier period of around 3900 BC.

FR : alors que j'approchais de l'allée couverte de Loc'h ar Ronfl, tout s'est mis à tourner... sûrement un coup des korrigans logeant ici.
EN : as I approached the covered alley of Loc'h ar Ronfl, everything started spinning... probably a joke of the korrigans staying there.

Tombstone Tuesday. There is a field I passed by most of my life Maybe 30 or 40 times a year currently, but probably most days when I was a child. From the road I could see some type of Dolmen in the field. I often thought “I should check that out sometime”. On Saturday I finally did.

Green grass field. Houses and a tree in background shrouded in fog under grey sky. A Dolmen with grey capstone supported by smaller rocks.
Stone sign reads: DOLMEN PORTAL TOMB CIRCA 2,500 B.C.

Fiadh's first visit to the Poll na Brón Dolmen - a 5000 year old portal tomb from the neolithic period. She was much more interested in a wee Rock Pippet that was flying about. You know what they say "You can take a dog to a Dolmen, but you can't ..........." 🤣
