32 years ago today on May 5 1992, one of the greatest games of all time (and forever my favorite first person shooter), Wolfenstein 3D, was released. I wrote about it for the list of 20 video games I can't stop thinking about (https://spacetimetech.wordpress.com/2024/04/06/20-video-games-i-cant-stop-thinking-about). I still play it regularly. Sometimes weekly. Killing digital Nazis is always fun and therapeutic.
sometimes I completely lack the motivation to do anything.. but then there's SimCity2000! 💙 There's a patched version that runs under Win10/11 with native resolution.. which is nice.
Welp, TFX must be doing something extremely weird with the graphics - neither my GBS8200 nor my Extron IN1604hd scaler can get a stable lock on the output video. Every now and again the frame judders about half-way down the screen :( #retrocomputing#retrogaming#DOSgaming
#SentientSoftware, probably a typical American garage company – or a start-up, as we would call it today – was founded solely for the purpose of publishing the #TextAdventures produced by owner #MichaelBerlyn himself. Reportedly already addicted to science fiction literature as a teenager, the game he first published, Oo-Topos, was naturally also from this genre.
Sometimes you might want a butt in your face, and sometimes you might not.
VERY excited to be playing Pantsmo today. It's a mod of Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure by eviltentacle and I, where we finally clothe that naked little alien boy. And... About half the other items in the game. So far.
very rarely i can still find old sierra titles at the thrift store. this is the first time i’ve found a sierra flight sim in the wild: the highly respected Red Baron 3D (3dfx/Glide re-release of RB II) 😍
no one has ever mentioned that Red Baron 3D has a completely different narrative history of the great war than Red Baron 1. it is surprisingly well written - far better than the in-depth manual of the first game. i ended up reading it through my lunch break.
had no idea franz ferdinand’s assassin confronted and murdered him in a dead end alley - just because the driver made one wrong turn.
