I voted Leto, however, #Hera and #Rhea do not get enough credit, in my opinion. Both of them are wonderful mothers who were not written about enough to show us how wonderful they really are.
Greek mythology’s major story of Hera and Zeus’ marriage also reflects ancient Greek ideas on marriage, authority, and social roles. Beyond the personal dynamics of the supernatural beings involved, this mythological coupling serves as a symbolic portrayal of the expectations and ideals surrounding marriage in ancient Greek society. It is among the most complex and talked-about relationships in the extensive fabric of Greek mythology. #greekmythology#zeus#herahttps://connectparanormal.net/2024/05/07/the-complex-union-of-hera-and-zeus-reflecting-ancient-greek-views-on-marriage/
Es hat sich einiges getan in unserem Storytelling-Projekt, das einst "Hidden Cities" hieß - und nun "HistoryCity Apps" heisst. Es folgt eine Übersicht der Apps, Begleitbücher, Webseiten, Comics, etc.

So, I had to talk about #Sparta! A warrior society focused on war, women had more rights than their #Athenian counterparts -- and were encouraged to be physically fit and prepared to fight to defend their homeland.
Sparta
Unlike their Greek counterparts, the women of Sparta had a lot more freedom and status. They were educated, since they would be in charge of keeping the homeland running smoothly while the men were at war – but they were also strong and able to defend themselves and their homeland.
Spartan men and women lived in separate quarters – even while married. Married couples would leave their respective quarters to procreate, and Spartan wives were required to have short hair and sometimes wore men’s clothing.
Amongst married couples, the Spartans were relatively #polyamorous, and women were not punished for infidelity.
An ancient priesthood of #Hera at Olympia involved “sixteen elderly women” (Connelly, 45), based on a “board of #FemaleElders once chosen from sixteen cities” (Connelly, 45) who negotiated “#peace between two cities’ (Connelly, 45) who had been at war.
“Priestesses seem to have initiated and negotiated #laws, #amendments, and penalties for transgressions” (Connelly, 214). Some priestesses wielded enormous influence: the Pythia of Delphi “could move scores of people to action” (Connelly, 219), and a #Pythia “is credited with having provided #Lykourgos with the #Spartan system of government”.
I'm watching yet another iteration of Greek mythology where Zeus is a deadbeat dad who wants to do better and Hera is the vengeful word-I-don't-use, and it's just so sexist.
Does anyone know of any Greek myth retellings from Hera's point of view? I'd love to read a feminist take on all that.
Tiresias was a seer of Greek legend who lived as both a man and a woman. In one version, as a young man he hit a pair of copulating snakes with a stick, and so Hera transformed him into a woman for seven years. During this time, Tiresias married and had children. #MythologyMonday

A new ESA mission is heading back to the asteroid NASA’s DART spacecraft nudged off course when it crashed onto its surface last year.
Now, the European Space Agency (ESA) is undergoing preparations for a follow-up mission that will return to the asteroid to conduct surveys of the impact.
The HERA mission, named for the Greek goddess of marriage is slated for an October 2024 launch.

#sundaymorningtransport is publishing some innovative #writing.Today's #story by @john_chu is a Skiffy meets Wild West look at the cutthroat milieu of academia. My #shortstory, "The Inventor We May Learn Is More Of A Conceptual Artist In Part Seven" goes live October 8th. I don't think they meant this as a compliment, but wow, they really get me! It's the perfect #blurb. "#Hera follows #Zeus to a bar, watches him hustle a ditzy blonde, transforms herself into a microscopic mite, mates with other mites, transforms the blonde into a bag of marshmallows and makes up with Zeus. This is a story? — TANGENT"
