Thomas P. Stafford, who took part in four space missions, has died at 93. Stafford retired as an Air Force three-star general and remained the agency’s go-to guy for independent advice on everything from human Mars missions to safety issues. “The most impressive sight, I think, that really changed your view of things is when you first see Earth,” Stafford once said about the view from lunar orbit. In 1969 we landed a crew of on the and brought them home safely. We currently have robotic rovers and flying drones on . Yet everyone is pissing themselves because landed (and fell over, lol) on the Moon.

I know it’s a diffecult undertaking, but has no one been taking notes at ? We’ve had around 60 (or more) years of technological development. We’ve successfully landed on an asteroid and brought back samples. It just seems to me that this is the kind of thing that should be in our “wheelhouse” by now.

• In some crew members, in addition to mild visual changes, there have been findings such as optic nerve swelling, retinal changes, changes in the shape of the eye 👁️ and a suggestion that there might be an increase in intracranial pressure
