When running tests “with Coverage” in any IDE, where does it store the coverage files?

My project is running in containers with docker compose, and this is all set up properly. In fact, the tests run, and presumably, the coverage report is generated, but the IDE doesn’t show the coverage, and I think it’s because it must be storing the coverage report on the container somewhere, and the IDE can’t access it when trying to display the lines covered.

I have to give a shout-out to the IDE developers. They're excellent at receiving feedback, discussing the developer experience, and implementing features.

It's always cool to see the little features add up to a top-tier experience for devs.

TIL that can cover ANY application as long as the process has PDBs. You don't need to write tests. You just need something that exercises the code. 🤯

An update notice reminded me of this plugin for . Every developer should use a plugin like this. I see this one supports too, but if there's another extension like it for Visual Studio running sans-Resharper I'd love to know in order to keep my team in check.

It has become a tool that I don't need much anymore because it has helped me so much in the past to recognize complex code

If you're not aware of this yet, JetBrains has recently released the stable version of their new IDE, RustRover.
And they've also released it with a free license (for non-commercial use).

What exactly is the "usage data" that wants to collect as part of the non commercial license of RustRover?!

WireMock is a very cool plugin for IDEs. It lets you mock HTTP endpoints with ease. Great when mocking up a sample app or trying things out.

I reached out to about their code assistant.

They verified:

  1. They use , which means my GitHub OSS has almost certainly been used in training data.
  2. They rely on OpenAI's promise to not ingest any code that is used for "context".
  3. They specifically do not disclaim that their tool could result in me violating someone else's copyright, and they could suggest the same code to someone else, too.

Uninstall this crap, now. It's dangerous and irresponsible

Man! Really wish I'd made the effort to move to Rider sooner.

The speed of its TypeScript suggestions is soooo much faster than VS Code, and it doesn't constantly fail to resolve them. The amount of times I had to close and reopen VS Code to get it to work was ridiculous.

I get why people are apprehensive of tooling in .

After years of writing code in a solution, you open it and realize you now have to run a marathon through lax code maintenance practices, issues, and errors you didn't even realize you had.

But you have to start at some point, and what better time than now? A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.
