I wonder how many people notice these angels on the cloak of the Saint Mungo statue by George Frampton at the main entrance to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in the west end of Glasgow.
Given how hard it was raining most of the morning here in Glasgow, this isn't remotely how I thought today would end, but it's certainly a very welcome sight!
I started today with a shot of the Kelvingrove Art Gallery in the West End of Glasgow, so it makes sense to end with one as well. It's a beautiful building, but at night, there's something about the front entrance which always reminds be of a slightly evil-looking face!

The Industries of Glasgow at the Court of Mercury by George Frampton and William Shirreffs. Situated on the north porch of Kelvingrove Art Gallery, this relief shows female figures carrying models emblematic of Glasgow's traditional industries, such as a ship, a bridge and a loom, to present to Mercury, the cleverest of the Gods of Olympus.
I love the sunsets in Glasgow at this time of year. Sometimes they fill the whole sky, but at other times, like today, you have to hunt around the horizon to find the best bits.
Good morning, Glasgow. The towers and turrets of Kelvingirve Art Gallery are looking as spectacular as ever in today's low winter sun, and even the spire of the neighbouring university is getting in on the action.
Glasgow's Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum has many treasures in it, but this is probably the one which most facinated me as a child.
It's a suit of armour from Kiribati in Micronesia. The body covering is made from coconut while the helmet is made from the inflated and then dried skin of a porcupine fish. The sword is lined with shark teeth, creating a highly effective weapon which would both slash and tear at flesh in equal measure.
One of my favourite views in the west end of Glasgow as it contains two of the city's grandest buildings. It also happens that I've spent a lot of time in both of them over the years.
