Apparently it's #WorldTurtleDay! A #Roman enamelled copper alloy fibula (a decorative pin for fastening garments) in the shape of a #turtle. Dating 2nd century AD.
Surtout, ce mois de mai 2024 marque les 10 ans de la sortie française de Blind Spot, un roman que j'ai écrit après mon premier voyage au Japon, en me demandant comment des malvoyants comme moi vivent dans ce pays.
Blind Spot raconte donc l'histoire d'une lycéenne japonaise malvoyante. C'est du slice of life à faible niveau calorifique mais ça reste l'histoire dont je suis le plus fier encore aujourd'hui car y'a un peu de moi et mes expériences dedans et ça s elit bien(tm).
L'illustratrice de Blind Spot est Saeko Doyle. Je ne pense pas qu'elle fasse encore de l'illustration maintenant, mais j'ai tout de suite aimé son style lorsque mon éditrice m'a mis en relation ave celle et on s'est super bien entendus tout au long de notre collaboration (et même après.)

One of my most favourite #glass vessels: A marvellous #Roman vessel in the form of a #pig, made of blue glass. It was used to hold ointment or perfume.
Found in a burial in Cologne. Dating late 2nd/early 3rd c. AD
For #RomanSiteSaturday the aqueduct of Segovia/#Spain. It was built in the late 1st/early 2nd c. AD and supplied water to the city until the mid 19th century. It's one of the best-preserved #Roman aqueducts and an impressive work of engineering.
Fascinating world of ancient #glass:
A #Roman glass bottle shaped like a date: dates, figs, and honey were New Year's gifts in Roman times. According to Ovid, they should make the new year a sweet one.
